Illiyan is a part of the really old lore. 1st edition specifically where he was a half eldar ultramarine library. he was retconned out and recently brought back as a standard eldar farseer. Hence the joke of not giving him screentime as he wasn't canon at the time the episode came out

For a bit of context: Vulkan is something known as a Perpetual, which is basically 40k's version of a true immortal. While he can "die," he will almost always just get back up a few minutes later, no matter how badly his body is torn apart or incinerated. In canon, this was bypassed when he got exploded by the Ork WAAAGH! reactor, but given that he has survived just about every other type of fatal injury, up to and including atmospheric re-entry, some people wonder just how permanent his death is.

The camels the ultramarines are riding belong to Crazy Hassan, a camel salesman. He is an eccentric merchant, and appeared in another TTS styled series called "Chaos Descends." Crazy Hassan shown himself to be a great businessman, since he managed to sell some camels to the ultramarines, as well as ward off a duo of chaos worshippers, by threatening to curse their genitals with the fleas of a thousand camels. He is currently on Nocturne, being surprised by the existence of rain and how it's not a camel. There, that's your camel lore.

Oh there is a shit load more Warhammer to get through. So many lore videos, I highly recommend the 1-2 hour long deep dives into characters from the Amber King. Constantine Valdor, Jaghatia Khan and Lucius the Eternal are the best in my opinion. Excellently researched, and narrated lore videos. There are the Dawn of War intros still to be watched - that's about 1 video worth of content. Oh! Moonshine Animation's "Potato Reviews Bandai Primaris Intercessor Space Marine" is fantastic. Gothic Russian stop-motion dolls reviewing 40k collector's pieces. Its a good time.

Yeah Vulkan is half Ork now, they’ll explain a bit more in a later episode. Fun fact ladies the planet Ullanor later became the world of Armageddon from Helsreach. Long story but basically that Beast Ork first turned Ullanor into an Ork Deathstar and threatened Terra with it, and then after he got killed the Mechanicus teleported the whole world to a new star system.

For Niki: So to give you a bit of an answer on wtf is going on with Vulkan, he was essentially the hero that saved the Imperium from a massive Ork Waaagh! called “The War of the Beast.” It is an incredibly ludicrous part of the timeline, but essentially it boils down to Vulkan fighting the Beast on the planet of Ullanor (where his brother, Horus, won his great victory and earned the title of Warmaster from the Emperor). Vulkan’s battle with the Beast made the two of them fall into a reactor that was powered by nothing but pure WAAAGH! energy (essentially Ork soul stuff). Surrounded and infused by said Ork soul stuff, Vulkan used the sheer violence and aggression of the greenskins with his own prestigious strength to smash the living daylights out of the Beast’s skull. The resulting explosion destroyed Vulkan, the Beast, and the Beast’s fortress and won the War of the Beast for the Imperium. Because his soul went into the warp surrounded by Ork soul stuff, it’s very possible a part of the Ork psyche merged with Vulkan’s soul when he came back to life. This is because Vulkan is a special type of individual called a Perpetual, which means he is functionally immortal and no matter how badly his body is obliterated he will come back together again eventually. So it’s very possible that Vulkan’s soul is now half-human and half-Ork.

About the camels, I don't remember any in 40k, but they kinda look like the horses used by the Kriegers. Those are genetic modified horses, hyper aggressive and with claws for hoofs, they are used by the Death Riders of Krieg, that's about it, not much more about them...

Cegorach’s theme is a demented riff on the opening theme. Speaking of which, this one scene did something that the entirety of 40k’s official history hasn’t done in years. Make the Laughing God scary. Angry Kitten is basically just one extended reference to the fact that his VA is from Norfolk. Hence the exaggerated northern english accent, frothing rage and nigh incomprehensible slang. Also Karl. Karl appears at the end to confuse and horrify.

I suspect one of the artifacts are the Seven Salamander Spheres. Seven orbs, inspired by Necron technology which, when gathered will miraculously repair a vehicle, or peice of wargear, or whatever with nanomachines before going inert for a time proportional to the scale of the repair.
