A suggestion. You have such a huge job that makes it easy to forget things. My suggestion is create three duffle bags. One for each time you go out and check the sheep and lambs. Pack each with everything you'll need. Gloves,syringes,antibiotic sprays and the rest. You know what you need. Everytime you go out grab a new bag. Voila you will never have forgotten anything. It will make your life so much easier unless stressful. Love your show

My dad had a running battle with a couple of cross-bred sheep that had black faces. They were very protective of any of the sheep in their herd and also very sneaky and intelligent. If dad had to catch a ewe from the herd with the cross breeds in it he would have to have someone watching his back so the protective ewe didn't charge into him. She would try to sneak behind his back. Every time we had sheep escape from a paddock into somewhere they weren't supposed to be there would be at least one of the black faced females in the wrong area with her buddies. One day my dad managed to catch all the naughty sheep and put them back in the paddock. Then as he was driving away he saw the black faced ewe drop her head and manoeuvre her head under the fence, stand up, walk forward until she was holding the fence up and then call to her mates. They all lined up, and started to go under the fence as dad turned around the Ute to go back. He had to catch them again and put them back. He got out the paint and marked each one with bright blue cross on their bums. He also had to put extra wires and stakes to hold parts of the fence down, to try to stop her from escaping and letting the others out as well. It never worked for long. One year I made him some chocolates from a mold of a sheep and made sure I made him some of his "favourite" black faced sheep. I told him at least with the chocy ones he was allowed to snap their heads off if they annoyed him, lol. Those naughty sheep made great memories.. I hope the ones on your videos are on their best behaviour for the farmer. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot

WOW! OK this confirms it. I have seen a lot of channels offered for other cow hoof trimmers after becoming a fan of "The Hoof GP". They were from the USA, were dry and unentertaining, and as I am not specifically someone interested in hoofs, I never made it through a single one of their videos. Graeme has always been so smiley, so earnest, and fun to watch, and his concern for the cattle is genuine. I have subscribed to every channel he has himself recommended, and never regretted the decision. I thought it might just be that he was recommending other people of a like mind to himself, but now that I see your video (which I loaded up because I thought it *was* one of his LOL), I think it's just Scottish people. Also, it doesn't hurt that the sheep are a lot cuter than the average cow, either. I am subscribing, and honestly... I wish I lived there now LOL.

They are precious, those black-nosed lambs. As a child, I had a stuffed lamb that looked very much like those little ones. (Mine was smaller, though) You are FUNNY!!

Oh, Cammi, can't effectively express my delight that "you guys" have joined forces...LOVE YOU BOTH BEYOND adjectives!!! Can you please pass this sentiment along to our "sheep man"? xoxo

I found you via Hoof GP, I grew up on a farm in the USA, CA i had Steers and sheep, horses, goats, pig that we would show them in the fair. I've only seen this breed of sheep once, and I thought it was cute and now able to see it again, in such a large number and incredible condition, it's so cool!!! Enjoy your work keep it up!!

Yep they're cute. When I saw the alpacas coming in as well I thought hey up this is going to be either entertaining or down right dangerous 😂
@TheSheepGame3 жыл бұрын
We were pretty safe with the one Mags, the sheep and alpacas are used to coming in and out most days

We raise shetland sheep. I trim their feet every 6 weeks. We have extremely well fed sheep that are eating high octane food. Feet grow extremely fast and we like them maintained similar to horses.(5-6 weeks). I am envious of your stand. I hold all my sheep on their backs and do it by hand. Thank you for sharing your video. Excellent education.

Obviously a money maker, I wonder what the carcass of these fluffy toys is like. You are doing the best job Cammy . I can’t believe you want a flock of Lleyns. All the roughty toughty sheep men told me they are proper little lady’s sheep. Anyway I had a commercial flock of winter shorn Lleyns.I used to go through their feet thoroughly as they left the lambing pens and they went through a footbath before rejoining their lambs in a builking up pen prior to turn out. I seldom had to catch a lame ewe at pasture. I found a stanley knife very handy for fine pareing and cutting back any shelly hoof pockets. One year my sheep scanned at 220% which is really not what you need when it costs 10kg milk to rear a lamb. If you do get any try to buy from a good commercial flock, reared on grass then you get the true picture. A good crossing sheep and good mothers. I tried various crosses and they all sold well straight off the farm.

There is a lot of fluff to these sheep Wendy and maybe not too much meat underneath. thanks for the advice on the Llyns.

I am on my pc and once the music started playing my husband came over to watch. LOL, He thought it was Graeme's channel. Very sneaky you are. Time will tell if you can match up to him. As in caring for the animals, and maybe speaking a little better English. But, that is us. Good luck with your channel.

My grandfather was a sheep rancher and I remember helping to get sheep up in the chute to be shorn and castrated in the late spring in Nevada. What a workout! There were very few problems with his sheep other than the occasional overgrowth of a ram's horns and attitude and the odd breech birth or two. There was always something that needed doing as he also had a few horses, chickens and other livestock that needed constant tending. I remember waking up to the smell of burning horse hooves when the farrier would be on site for the horses and being fascinated with every step of the process of shoeing. The time I spent on the ranch, learning about taking care of all the animals and crops are some of my best memories of my childhood.
