As a Madrid fan, i completly agree with Xavi. The barca Real jobs are like no others. This is why there was never a spanish version of Alex Ferguson. Even pep said he was tired after 4 years of managing Barcelona. If these clubs go 3 games without a win, then there's already questions about the quality of the manager. After Real's loss to city last season EVERY fan was calling for Carlo's head. Even if he won Copa del rey, fans still wanted him out. Only the unreal form of this season saved him.

this is a great point and i feel like people don't really understand how insane the Barca and Real jobs are. The fans are used to domination and competitiveness in a way that no other team really is - MAYBE Manchester United, but a decade of flops has made even that job seem a different beast. I honestly sometimes can't believe the stuff that some fans of Barca and Real are willing to say about managers, but you also can't blame them. Dominate so much for so long, domestically and in Europe, and both the floor and the ceiling are so unreasonably high

Nobody wanted Ancelotti’ head for losing last year against City... Most Real fans expected to loose, myself included. And after the previous year’s many upsets, he had more than enough credit to stay. Real Madrid manager job is extremely demanding, that much is true, but not in this case.

@@omgronny9572 Who said the manager gets *no* blame? It's a video about the guy leaving, and people are talking about things that contributed to the struggles of the club in the past few seasons - bringing up Ter Stegen and Busquets seems completely reasonable to me. Of course the manager made mistakes, and it's completely fair to say that he's too green for a job like this, but I don't think it's crazy at all to say that circumstances made his life harder

Barca only have themselves to blame for their current state. Relied on Messi to carry them post xaviesta, spent the neymar money poorly, and didn’t know how to balance wage books once messi merchandise was no longer a reliable income stream. Bought players like raphinha lewa and torres for too much money to only have short term success. And most importantly, lacked accountability for their shortcomings, always pointing the finger rather than looking in the mirror.

Winning the league last season put a lot of pressure on the whole team. This is still a team with a lot of work to do with a lot of issues. We should celebrate that they won la Liga and accept that Barcelona aren't good enough to be in pole positions to win titles for the coming years. As fans we gotta have patience and humble our expectations. The club is in shambles.

I agree in a way. Barca’s mismanagement has crippled him and it’s not his fault; my brother is a Barcelona fan and I always say it’s a shame that there’s so much wrong in the pitch and they can’t even fix it cause they need a DM, a competent right back, expansive wingers and a quality striker. They can’t get any of that without selling Araujo, or De Jong which would make them even worse, and then it would cripple them elsewhere. It’s just a huge clusterfuck. And now how can they even get quality players in when they look like such a dumpster fire?

Similar events but contrasting situations define the differences between both clubs. Liverpool has a sense of unity and acceptance over Klopp's announcement. Barcelona has a sense of foreboding doom and disunity which has plagued the club since Enrique left the club. The reward Xavi got for winning the club with the most mediocre Barca team vs the patience and support Klopp was given after a torrid season.says a lot. Greatly summarised as always by Adrian. CEO Steve has Developed you well.

It's because of the club always feeling entitled to success no matter what the situation is. If this squad was European giants like the old, it would have been justifiable. But when they are not, and still feel like this, is delusional. Klopp came at Liverpool when the club was at their lowest, and fans were accepting of that reality, something you do not see with Barca. This made Klopp's job easier, as expectations were low and so the pressure. The only time I felt like that with Barca was when Koeman was sacked and Xavi first arrived at the club, and that is the time that he actually thrive at the club, barring performance in Europe, obviously.

Lol Im glad you poured a little cold water on the Klopp prospect but not enough. The chances of him going to Barca are essentially zero. He worked hard to keep LFC both successful and within FFP limits. The idea he'd move to an absolute financial trainwreck like Barca is really a wild thought to imagine. I knew his resignation was coming sooner than later, no matter when he announced it to the wider world, those of us who've watched him for the better part of a decade could see the body language. It was coming.

Using injuries as an excuse for your defense falling apart is rich considering Real has the best defense in the league without the starting GK, both CBs and Mendy, Carvajal and Lucas all having missed games too. And they've collectively missed more games too. Either you make it work or you don't, but no excuses. He knows this can always happen in football, injuries are part of the game.

The biggest misses for Barca defensively are Alba and Busquets. Those two knew when to be aggressive and when to drop off due to their experience and how to slow the tempo of the game to their teams benefit. I think that they were also strong presences in the locker room. They were also good friends with Xavi, so they would make sure that everyone gave their all on the pitch in order to see Xavi succeed. Now, Barça is greatly lacking in that kind of player leadership which is why the team is so lackluster.

They don't even know what their own opinions are. They just attack players for the sake of attacking them. Too feel like they're relevant somebodys. To have a go at some successful famous people....From the depths of their basements on their smart phones and computers. This is the modern generation. They haven't been punched in the face enough so they have zero respect for others and all talk like they're KING SHIT. Everyone to them is a "clown" or "fraud" or "finished" and should "cope" or "cry" if they disagree with their retarded hot takes. This is the intellectual level of these lot.

Busquets leaving was a massive blow to the team. Romeu and Frenkie doesn’t work. Frenkie plays best in a pivot and he’s never been able to play in that position throughout his whole time at Barca and I don’t see it happening if you have gundogan, Pedri and Gavi in midfield too. Selling Frenkie would probably be the best financially. Who will take over Busquets role? That’s something the club really needs to ask themselves

I coach youth soccer up to age 8. I like when the kids play goalie because that is the one position where you get to look at the whole field. You truly start learning how to look at the game from that position. I imagine at the professional level it's the same thing the goalie has the best view. This means the type of communication that goes on from the goalie to his defenders becomes very crucial. I truly am convinced that ter stegen's absence has played a massive role in the struggle of the defense. Typically the goalie is placed in its own category but let's not forget that it's still part of the defense. Especially with such young defense a player like to stay in becomes more than crucial.

It is the casuals nowadays. Who have no patience, no understanding of the process and no understanding of how managerial football works. It is happening at every club. This casuals just want their club to win so they can 'maybe post on Instagram, or on their story about how their club is the best in the world'. I have been a supporter of Barca for a long time. It pains me to say that Xavi is going. We did not win a League for 4 years, he won us that, we started dominating against Real. And 5-6 bad months filled with injuries, players not performing and suddenly he is not good enough? Just down right embarrassing behaviour from Barca fans. Deserved so much. Not because of what he did as a player but because he indeed was doing great as a manager. Hopefully, one day he comes back. Modern football requires time. Pep took 7 years at City to complete a treble winning team. Kloop has been at Liverpool for 9 years. Football needs TIME. Football fans has a short memory. Unfortunately. 💔

The fact we don't have Gavi and busquets, the two key players in our 4 man box midfield that made us pressure like hell, which makes it so much easier for the opponents to attack us with space and comfort to make decisions and be dangerous. The injury of iñigo Martinez who was supposed to be a key player, Araujo not being at his best since his injury, the rest of the defense having a terrible drop in form and ter stegen's injury, which makes them second guess everything, like you said. It was the perfect remedy for disaster which Xavi could do nothing to fix. This season was a perfect mix of everything: bad luck with injuries, the bad sporting decisions and signings showing their face, terrible individual form, lack of concentration, toxicity, and xavi's inexperience as well. I'm very sorry for him and I doubt many managers would've been able to manage this season much better, but I do think a new manager, with more experience and back bone, will help the club, but sadly it was Xavi who had to deal with this perfect storm, it'll be easier for the next manager next season in my opinion. I hope Xavi can become an amazing manager one day, I hope this toxic environment changes and I hope he can come back as a coach in the future, in a better scenario.

I feel bad for Xavi... Honestly it was a dream that was talked about for years and some thought he could bring the glory days back to Barcelona. But he came at a time when the club's finances are an absolute shambles and couldn't find proper players of certain quality to fill the gap of some important players like Sergio Busquets. But people need to understand that the Barcelona job isn't like any other Job. Managaers like Sir Alex Ferguson, Jürgen Klopp, Arteta were given time and patience to build their teams and projects, and these managers achieved amazing results, or in the case of Arteta... Still building his squad. Xavi didnt have the pieces lined up like Pep Guardiola did and no one can say he didnt have the mentality, as the mentality of being the Manager for Real Madrid or Barcelona is too much. Even Pep, Barcelona's most successful manager after 4 years of a mountain of success was exhausted. Regardless, I wish Xavi all the best.

He was spoiled, by coming from a team that win everything, entering on scene has the savior, he was already thinking that the bad days did not come. Its completely diferent of beeing a player and a coach, thats why Xavi, Pirlo, Lampard, Gerrard etc they were not prepared for the challanges. You have to discover yourself to be a lider has a coach, because you need to convince all the players, not just one. The coach job is incredibly hard, and needs a lot of mental strenght. However, on the other hand, he won us La Liga last season, Gavi is out for the rest of the season, Lewandowski and Gundogan aren't performing, Ter Stegen has just gotten back from an injury. Overall it seems unfair to him especially with the financial constraints the team has been under. He isn't a revolutionary, little bit too stubborn for his own good at times but he's experienced. He knows how to handle superstars, how to make them play for team while giving them indivisual freedom on the pitch. Ancelotti never excuses when we lose, he talks shit at times just to get into opponent's head. He's absolutely unbothered by the sudden changes in the winds as people call for his head after just one loss all season. Thats the price you pay for being the best I guess. I hope Barcelona would find someone like him to steady this ship. Real Madrid needs Barcelona to be competetive to bolster the league as well as be competent enough in europe

Barca´s biggest problem is that they set way to high goals for themselfe. i love barca but they have to realize that their glory history took place over a relatively short period of time where conditions where very good because they had legendary players and a superior football philosophy at that time. But from this era almost nothing is left. They where not able to keep that fire burning like Real did by replacing old players with new talents step by step. Now they throw promising but unexperienced young talents in the first team with some players they bought recently und expect instant success . barca needs a project like klopp and liverpool. 3-4 years no expectations. just building a team and creating a playstyle. Honestly i think Xavi has a big mentality Problem. Him beeing a coach at barca is very much about himself. Everytime when they lose you can tell how much it hurts his pride. After reading that quote in the beginning everything is making more sense now

Personally I think we need a coach that is used to working with what he has and youth. We can’t afford to bring in a big name coach that will ask for signings that we realistically can’t afford at the moment. We might be able to squeeze a loan or two maybe buy a player or two, but big name coaches will most likely come in demanding a couple of players we can’t afford. That’s why I’m a fan of getting michel if it’s possible unless we bring in a big name coach with emphasizing we can’t afford many signings for them. Out of all of them, I think we shouldn’t get Marquez. Guy barely started coaching La masia side and they are mid table. We are just asking to bring him in for failure with his lack of experience. Maybe later on with more experience.

This is a team that supposed to be rebuild from zero...with young La Masia players(cheap and talented) and 2 years with no trophies expectations...and also considering the financial bad situation they are in. Why they did jump some important steps in reconstruction it's solely administration fault: with no money to spend they build a team full of retirees that no other team bid on them.

A great soldier does not necassarily make a great General. I dont feel bad for xavi, Barcelona have a huge budget, he knew what the job would be like and got an incredible opportunity for his first coaching job. Xavi did seem more like a mascott than a caoch for the most part and that wont succeed long term.

Pimienta will not come back as long as Laporta is at Barca because Laporta sacked him unceremoniously when he was doing a spectacular job with Barca B to replace him with Rafa Marquez who has been mid at best. I'm disappointed by the fact that Barca haven't been linked with Andoni Iraola, low budget managers with high ceilings don't come any better than him.

If they miss the UCL they may be in a similar situation to 2005 Dortmund financially. Maybe not administration, relegation, or total liquidation is on the horizon, but certainly a reformation of the club like a Parma (and debt wiping, board overhaul) could take place as even if it’s better than it was in 2020, they’ll still a indebted mess who can’t even hire a new manager.

Im honestly confused as a barca fan for 1 there was too much pressure from the start you expect our players to win the champions league so that they can get paid to help the club financially which is not a good reason to win the champions league. Also xavi had soo many injuries this season we have yet to see a full healthy starting lineup with our gala 11. The club is putting all this pressure for the team to perform so that they can get the money from the competitions they win its that simply

I lived in Barcelona during the end of the Cruyff-as-coach and beginning of the Van Gaal eras and while Laporta was still young and arrogant and sniping from the outside (now he's old and arrogant). There is nothing wrong with your excellent video, but I was still left disappointed because you didn't even touch upon a key question I've always had: Is the member-ownership model for football clubs actually even more brutal on manager and players than the more common billionaire narcissist-ownership model? Typical English football fans, for example, always wax lyrical about how "things would be different" if they controlled the club through collective ownership instead of some dividend-sucking, debt-piling-on, billionaire (or even worse, a yank, rube-in-the-transfer-market billionaire). And of course, in the U.S., the billionaires clamped down on the member-ownership model (only grandfathering in the Green Bay Packers), so it must have a secret sauce they fear, right? While living in Barcelona and reading the daily sports pages, the vicious politics around "Barca" became evident. And yet because of the fickle nature of the fans (everyone of them is an "expert"), the 100,000 + owners of Barcelona seem only to act as a force multiplier of pressure on management and players until it is absolutely soul-crushing.

I think it's the difference in fan culture that plays more of a role. The Bundesliga teams are all member owned but the fans are nowhere near as demanding.

Don’t feel bad for him at all. He knew what the standards were and he still took the job. He did well at the beginning but started falling short near the end. That’s what separates the world class managers from the rest. Yes you can have blips here and there but you still you have to be able to get back up and win.

Lewandowski and his rebellious gang are the ones to blame, Barcelona is suffering from the same disease as Manchester United Player Power, useless attack and a defense that can't track runners. Xavi will have a Great Career he just needs to chose his next job carefully another terrible season and his credibility is pretty much done. Barcelona should learn something from English teams imagine if Arteta had been fired or Ferguson's bad run in the Chelsea Mourinho era or even Klopp when he barely finished 4th. Luis Enrique almost resigned too before the 2015 Treble what am saying some Managers need time, unlike English teams Barcelona can afford to have an off season they'll finish Top 4 regardless.
@martinmcmartinezface4243
@martinmcmartinezface4243 Жыл бұрын
Finishing 4th may not be a tragedy for top English teams, but if Barcelona ends in 4th position you would have Barcelona on fire. The mentality is different, finishing 4th for Barcelona makes it a terrible season, and you should expect huge changes in the team. For top English clubs finishing 4th may be considered a decent season.
