I fell hard for my best friend which we will call "A" in middle-school, but I never told him. We stayed friends even after college and university. Then we lost contact after I moved, and I didn't use social media at the time. A few years later another friend "B" revealed to me that "A" had always liked me but neither of us had the courage to tell each other. I came from a conservative and homophobic household and we both feared what others would have thought of us. He's now married. It hurts me when I recall this incredibly personal story. But I am also happy that he found happiness. I still go through scenarios in my head. What if I had told him? Would things have been different. Maybe in an alternate universe we might have been happy together. All that's left that I feel is this emptiness and soul crushing guilt at being a coward. Even to this day I'm hiding in the closet. But I guess "That's just the way the world works. It isn't funny, pretty, nor sweet" Well if you made it this far. Thanks for reading. ❤

Lovely Unbreakable Stud...! Very recognizable and familiar story. Often had it myself. Regrettable indeed. Life finally is too short to waste or lose these rare opportunities. The only positive aspect here maybe is that it shows or reveals the inner spiritual depth, complexity and richness of the author or person in question who is hesitating and retreating or pulling back.. Shyness because of a pure and profound soul that doesn't dare enough out of a pure and refined and perhaps too delicate longing/ desire....It probably also happened the way around with others in regard to us...

A good lesson. I believe that it was Mark Twain who said when you are on your deathbed, it is not the things that we have done that we regret, it is the things we left undone. Or words to that effect.

Simply introducing yourself to her is a far less daring approach than asking for her phone number, as it's a much safer option for you (to see her response) and for her (to respond to), and being far more subtle (for both of you) will be easier to do, and you will come across as gentle and friendly rather than upfront and direct.

Wise words indeed. Seize the moment but at the same time don't become an 'if only' person if the moment passes. New ones will come along and you might well seize that one! Life is always a learning experience that never ends! Take care Leon and make more thoughtful vídeos. 🤗

Leon, you did exceptionally well in conversing with this girl on your first meet, as it would have been extremely daring of anyone to ask her out after an interaction that lasted only seconds. You are doing the right thing by going back to the shop every day or so. Please don't give up on seeing her again, as it's only been 2 weeks and she may be on vacation or something. We all want to know how this eventuates with this girl. Hope you see her again really soon.
@GregoryVincent-d9u4 ай бұрын
You have a very good message. For all of us, life is full of missed opportunities! I think asking her out would have been "too forward" of you, and it wouldn't have worked. In fact, it would have had the reverse effect! What you could have done was to ask her if she has had a long day - and if she seems friendly asks her what shifts she works. That would have been enough for your first meeting with her - and, knowing her shifts, you could have planned your next visit. Then, when that happens, you might be able to get her name.

I would just like to reiterate in the comments that this is really good advice. I never dated until nearly a month ago where I decided to ask out this lovely girl who I've been amazing friends with and had felt chemistry with for a while. I was scared to do it but I also just decided to take the chance. We've been dating for nearly a month now and it's going very well! I would have never even considered doing this a few months ago but, as you say, sometimes you should just take chances so you don't live with regrets later down the line. Whether it's with a boy or girl! Edit: Don't beat yourself up about THAT experience though. I would've definitely been too scared to ask for that girls number because I would've still seen us as strangers even still. I knew my girlfriend as a friend months beforehand and I was still scared to ask her even then.

This is so true, sadly! I gave up on relationships years ago. However, there have still been many times when I REALLY liked a guy. I kept being so close to making a move on them and I know I certainly wanted to. But, I’ve always had such bad anxiety, it always stopped me and made me think, “What if they don’t feel the same way about me? What if they’re straight? What if they’ve already got someone?” There’s always that chance of making things awkward if it’s someone you regularly see, like at work or school. But, at least with the girl you like, if things didn’t work out, you could stop going to that shop or something. Anyway, I hope you manage to find a special someone someday, if you haven’t already. Good luck and I hope YOU enjoy the rest of your day.😀

@@johnryan3913 Thanks very much! There are a lot of other factors, like the social anxiety that comes with Autism, as well as having been stabbed in the back by a lot of people I either worked with or considered friends through the years. But, I still appreciate the advice and hope I will someday find a way to make it work.😀🤝💜

After introducing yourself, hopefully she will do the same. If she doesn't, then gently ask her for her name (such as, "May I ask your name?" Note the use of the words "May I ask" as it is friendly). And when ending the conversation, offer her your phone number rather than asking for hers, as it's much safer for both of you, and if she accepts it hopefully she will do the same and offer you hers. If she doesn't accept your number, then the question of whether or not she likes you is resolved, and you never have to dwell on it again. If she accepts your number, but doesn't offer you hers, then you can gently ask her for it if she seems friendly enough (such as, "May I ask for your number?" Again, note the use of the words "May I ask"). If she refuses, then don't despair, as she may be cautious with all guys, so give her a week or so to phone you before returning to the store to try again. If she does give you her number then you know she likes you !!!

I get the point of the video, but just watch out when someone is behind a counter - and on service delivery - they are in a position of needing to please or to charm the customer. And so it's often inappropriate to chat up shop staff or a waiter in a restaurant etc. - because they are in a powerless position. But, for sure, we regret those obvious moments of social contact which, later, we realise we should have followed up. PS. I'm still missing your hat.
