My dad's best friend was a guy named Paul Justice who played fiddle for Mel Tillis & I remember the 1st time he was by our house and plugged in a fiddle & it was near evil. I was about 10 yrs old & loved it. It was 1 of the things that made hunt the nastiest Blues & Rock I could find.

This is the best gift you've ever given me. I saw O'Reilly last week at a solo acoustic show at a small club in Decatur Ga called Eddie's Attic, and it was one of the best shows I've seen in years. Thank you, Michael!

Those boys play and sing with such a passion and feel every note and vibe. Caught them in the UK a few years back and have been shouting their names from the rooftops ever since. Sadly I believe they've split - in part at least, but in whatever form they appear, even solo, believe me they'll be worth seeing. Loved your enthusiasm in your discovery for them too. Thanks for sharing

Oh man! This has the Tom Waits vibe for sure and I can see comparing his vocals to Zach Bryan, but all I can hear is that Andrew Bird feel coming from the vio-fiddle. It also reminds me of older Cary Ann Hearst stuff before her and Michael became Shovels and Rope. Really stoked to do a deep dive on these guys! Cheers!

Swampy it truly is! Any slower and they’d lose me, but the fiddle swoops in and rescues the groove just on time. As far as the lyrics, this is as steamy as it is swampy. He’s been staring at the captain’s daughter since she came aboard, and she’s letting him look from a distance…and he’s been staring at her thighs, (repeat) etc.

Love Marty. I saw him years ago at tiny bar in Humboldt, appropriately called Humbrews. Really blew the top off the place, and gained a boatload of new fans that night. My buddy worked at the bar, but was off that night so we were there drinking and enjoying the scene. After a while we noticed that Marty has a giant head. Like way bigger that one would expect, but it's not totally disproportioned, as the dude is a brick shithouse. We're standing there, and his coworker walks up and goes "Oh my god, it's Marty Bighead...I went to elementary school with him!" and then she walked away. Anyway, nice guy, big head, bigger voice. Hope he continues to see great successes!
