Yeah, japan is on the other side of the date line, and all navy operations across the pacific were conducted according to tokio time zone, americans in their reports always had the confusion between the west coast and hawaii time zones, due to radio messages being received (and sent) in different time zones at different places and headquarters, i.e. hawaii, san diego, washington etc.
