all jokes aside, i think keyboard is a good middle ground for hitbox. i use Space, A, S and D keys for movement and U, I, O, P/J, K, L, and ; keys for attack buttons. it’s hella convenient but maybe not the best for widespread tournament play, but i plan to switch to hitbox fully (for fighting games at least). i am a bit worried about tournament legality with the SOCD changes, but i’ll cross that bridge when i get to it lol.

How do you change the keys on keyboard? I played keyboard on Tekken and loved it but the default settings for SF6 are awkward. I like using that island of 6 keys with pg up PG down and stuff cuz I never accidentally hit other keys. Also to use spacebar would be great.

People who are "too broke" for hitbox somehow have no problem shelling out 60-100$ for the game. Makes sense. Great advice on building your own. If you already have a stick, it's pretty easy and cheap to convert it to a hitbox, especially in the US.

Maybe not to broke for a hitbox, but they don't want to shell out 200+ for the Hitbox branded hitbox. I want a Mixbox myself but I don't think I would get it through Hitbox.
@everyonesaidmynamewasstupi3713 Жыл бұрын
@@vista1456786 for me, it’s a matter of pride. i’m not gonna spend $250 on a glorified keyboard with fewer buttons. it’s such a scam it’s insane. they can give all the nonsense reasons they want, but we all know the only reason they’re charging that much is because they can.
@IronKnee963 Жыл бұрын
@@everyonesaidmynamewasstupi3713 Well, that's not their fault but lazy people's fault. People also pay for overpriced trash consoles with inferior hardware. Where I live a PS5 costs 500-600 bucks. I can build a PC for 400 that runs better than a PS5. But people are too lazy, so they rather pay more and not lift a finger. As mentioned here already, you can cheaply convert an old stick yourself. You can also build it from scratch, or just stop relying on brand names and get a cheaper one. You can easily get hitboxes for 100 bucks and then still customize the buttons and everything to your liking. One google search will give you plenty of forums with tutorials and or shops.

My first stick was built out of a dead Xbox 360. How did I learn? Google. What parts do you need? 24mm spade bit, 30mm spade bit, control board, buttons, a box, print out of a button layout you want. I agree with a lot of the points your saying. But I slightly disagree on a few things. I think in most 2D games, pad is still the worst input method. I understand in the Street fighter scene, most top players either use hitbox or pad, and stick is becoming less frequent. But you have to remember at the highest level, those players are great, not because of their input method, but in spite of their input method. In Tekken, I feel stick is the worst input method (I play stick in 2D games and I play pad in 3D games, I sometimes dabble with leverless). But you look at the best Tekken players, and most of them play on Stick, with pad being a close second. Then again, I don't think stick is the strongest input method for Tekken, In fact I think it's the weakest. I'll give you a weird anecdote. When I was in the army, all the fastest runners were cigarette smokers. Ask most people who've been in the military will probably share similar stories. With that being said, I don't think that cigarette smoking is the best way to improve your runtime.
@crosscountertv Жыл бұрын
The message was more about making yourself more valuable to the world and increasing your income by improving your skills in a practical way. If stick weren't the weakest, leverless wouldn't exist.

@@crosscountertv I agree with you on that part of the video. If you don't have money and you don't have time, you're doing something wrong for sure. But in my head, even though pad is technically leverless, I don't consider them on the same tier as hitbox or mixbox. It could just be me, but I felt like I upgraded going from pad to stick in SF. I made the switch back in SF4 though, the scene was different back then, so maybe stigma had something to do with it.

Generally I would say that the time spent looking for and then working a part time job could have been spent just learning some basic soldering skills. So it would have taken longer to do that. Also the real message was to make oneself more valuable to the world. Getting a part time job is one way to do it, learning new practical skills that are in demand to people who play fighting games is more beneficial in the longrun IMO.
