Feeling good just as you are is priceless!! Many years ago I had really bad skin and I felt I could only leave the house with makeup, but it looked bad either way because I'm neither talented nor patient with doing makeup. All I wanted to do is to leave the house in the morning without all this work. So I decided to get over my insecurity and leave my skin alone. After I got used to it it felt so good to not worry. And after some more time, my skin started to get better. It's still not perfect but I feel good without covering up and that is just so liberating! Thank you for sharing your experience!

never did acrylic nails..I found them horrible, no matter the design. Never did brows, except plucking. ..People , especially women, waste too much time of their lives trying to fit in someone else's image , waste too much time for looks, appearance and we do not get it, at that time. Till mid 30s , I was not going out without make up. After that, learned to take even better care of my skin , than to wearing masks to cover imperfections. With the age are coming wrinkles, but also a maturity which I thought I had before.. Mid 30s are the starting point.. Even if more money,than in your youth, stability, you have more experience, I know what I want..the goal is to be happy, healthy , seek comfort , avoid useless things, unnecessary ..ignore opinions.

@SRose-vp6ew9 ай бұрын
I started getting my eyebrows threaded at least twice a month starting at age 14. I look back and realize how young that was, but I did it with my own money. My whole face truly did look better after getting them done. In 2020 the now wealthy and older lady who did my eyebrows retired and I realized after all the years of getting my eyebrows done, it didn’t look bad naturally and so I’ve just kept it natural. Although, after years of having it cultivated into the correct shape, a natural looking shape, it looks good because I spent years working to get it looking this good now. My eyebrows used to need the help, but they don’t anymore. If my lady came out of retirement I don’t think I would go back to it. I don’t even think I would do it if someone paid me to get my eyebrows done every 7 to 14 days. I don’t regret getting my eyebrows done, but I’m loving that I only need to spend up to a minute every 3 months doing maintenance now “if” a hair grows in an off area.

It's interesting because the nails thing has been the opposite for me. I've always done my own nails apart from an occasional special occasion. My natural nails are terrible. They split and peel and take so much time to maintain on my own. I was constantly having to file down a broken nail or paint my nails with hardening stuff, etc. I hate spending money on myself, but I recently started getting my nails done every month, and for me it actually saves me so much time! And it makes me so thankful that my husband wants me to do this for myself. He encourages me to do it because I'm so frugal and rarely do anything like this for myself😂. I also struggle with social anxiety and the Lord is helping me to face this instead of avoiding it. So having positive interactions with people is extremely helpful to teach your body not to switch on the sympathetic nervous system just because you're talking to someone you don't know well. It just helps me to go get them done and then I don't have to worry about them for 3-4 weeks. I thank the Lord all the time for giving me the ability to do this. It is such a blessing to me. It's just so funny how the Lord can use something like this in completely opposite ways.

@@saltandsrirachaI think you can rely on God for confidence and also gravitate towards certain things that you find beautiful. David didn’t have to wear a crown made of gold and precious jewels to know that God was the one to make him a king and to know to give thanks to God for the crown he had, but at the end of the day he did wear a crown. Also, where in the Bible does it say anything about women only wearing dresses? That’s not biblical. Men didn’t even wear pants when it was written, they wore robes. Two things can be true at once. You can like the color blue enough to put it on your nails or eye lids without getting your worth or validation from it. It’s not always that deep, and I think it depends on the individual’s relationship with God so people need to be more careful about being so quick to jump to “correction”.

This was her journey, but I'm sure she's not meaning to say that there is anything wrong with getting your nails or hair done, dressing provocatively or less feminine. Do what makes you happy.

This gives me so much inspiritation and hope. I feel so weighed down by the world’s expectations as a female in my 20’s but it’s so refreshing & comforting knowing there are women who gracefully have left certain beauty standards in their past + are embracing the freedom of being natural ✨

I'm glad you feel more like yourself. You old style wasn't wrong or bad you just changed or your preferences changed and you were able to discover a new version of yourself. I'm glad you feel great in your skin. Everyone should feel that way. Wearing jeans or skirts, using filler or not, etc, etc, everyone should get to feel good about themselves.

Last year I finally took out all of my piercings except for my main ones, the ones I’ve had since I was a baby. I really felt the Lord just asking me why I needed to be so heavily adorned with jewelry, and seriously I’ve felt so much more beautiful and simple without all my extra piercings. Obviously this isn’t a conviction for everyone but specifically something I felt and it just reminded me of this video and living out a more simplified life.
