Each Pacific island have their own war dances or battle cries passed down from our ancestors and with the introduction of rugby we have all incorporated it into the sport. The haka is the war dance of the Maori people and therefore should only be led or performed by such. To people unfamiliar with rugby often associate the haka with the sport because of how well known the All Blacks are for performing it before every game. However, it is sacred to them and anyone of any other race (including other Polynesians) who try to perform or impersonate it is at risk of appropriation.
