Oh and its not 75 years is 57 years ago... haha! Thought about when it was and my dyslexic mind spat it back out backwards.

Wooly Bugger, Parachute Adams, Pheasant Tail, and a Hares Ear consist of the core anyone needs to catch fish just about anywhere in the world. Throw in a Clouser Deep Minnow and you are set for any creek, river and near shore water.

Yep. Plus all the adjustments you can make to where you can catch a massive sport fish or a small fish for dinner on the same kind of fly. Add a colored bead or bright chenille at the eye of a wolly bugger and you've got an egg sucking leach, possibly my favorite steelhead fly

I’m from Pennsylvania and I’ve used that version of the wooly bugger to catch landlocked salmon in Maine with a sink tip line and a 3 foot fluorocarbon leader. Of course I’ve also caught wild browns and wild rainbows and native brook trout with it.

Really?!? Not even one like it? Honestly didn’t know that was possible, well you’ve found a great one. Modern ones will add a wire over the hackle for more durability. You should do that, just wanted to tie the original way here

Awesome fly!! Thank you for sharing this pattern! I am most definitely going to tie this one for tomorrow! Tight lines! 😎🎣

Love thy old school 🎉, I'm experimenting with a foam fins minnow fly , suspended mid column type ... Have you ever tried this type of tie?
