I am sorry you got diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. Here are some strategies for managing it: -Developing a Routine: Establishing a consistent daily routine can help manage inattention by providing structure and predictability, which can make it easier to stay on task and remember daily responsibilities. -Minimizing Distractions: Create a work environment that reduces distractions. This might involve using noise-canceling headphones, working in a quiet space, or closing blinds to block out external stimuli. It's also helpful to turn off pop-up notifications on electronic devices to prevent interruptions. -Using Organizational Tools: Implement organizational systems such as calendars, alarms, and push notifications to help with time management and remembering important tasks and deadlines. Finding natural places for items and using bins or baskets can also help minimize clutter and disorganization. -Breaking Down Tasks: Large tasks can be overwhelming, so breaking them down into smaller, more manageable steps can help maintain focus and motivation. Rewarding oneself after completing each step can also provide positive reinforcement. -Setting Specific Goals: It's important to set specific, achievable goals for improving attention and organization. This can include being realistic about your starting point and gradually increasing the time spent focusing on a task. -Improving Sleep Hygiene: Adequate sleep is crucial for managing inattention. Developing good sleep hygiene practices, such as maintaining a regular sleep schedule and creating a conducive sleep environment, can improve overall well-being and attention. -Exercise and Mindfulness: Regular physical activity and mindfulness practices can increase neurotransmitters that are beneficial for attention span and reduce distracting thoughts. These practices can also help manage stress, which can exacerbate inattention. -Working with a Buddy: Partnering with someone who can help keep you accountable and focused on tasks can be very effective. This could be a colleague, friend, or family member who understands your challenges and can provide support. -Reflecting on Past Experiences:Consider situations where you have successfully maintained attention and try to identify what strategies worked. Use these insights to replicate successful approaches in current and future tasks.

being disabled with ms has left me plenty of time to face these demons head on without fear. having no outside influence that is good made me reach within myself, real scarey, for the good. i found so much good miracles are happening. i learned how to love me ,even as my family so conveniently forgot about me.

Great video! Anhedonia often goes hand in hand with low dopamine levels, which are crucial for feeling rewarded and motivated. Understanding this link can guide treatment strategies. Try engaging in activities that give you even a tiny sense of accomplishment or enjoyment; it might just jumpstart your brain's pleasure system.

This is so true. I was already in therapy from the loss of my mother when the shutdown occurred. I was called into work in IT in public education and my coworker suffered a series of strokes and passed away during the shutdown. I ended up getting the work thrown onto me, additional losses of loved ones pushing me into a series of mental breakdowns every summer since. I’m dreading this coming summer.

In the periphery, as a nurse, it seems people are less patient, demanding perfection of others. Nobody is perfect. Everyone is prone to making mistakes. None of us can avoid making mistakes. We all are struggling to "keep up" with job & life requirements, creating undertone of anxiety, waiting for the bottom to drop out at any time. Nothing you do in your free time to offset this stress really frees us from this chronic undertone of anxiety - and this can make us not care anymore (anhedonia). I wish we could redesign all workplaces to be more compassionate, forgiving, tolerant of mistakes and have more resources (like extra coworkers to take up all the extra slack) to be available so people can SLOW DOWN to think effectively (not rush!) through tasks - not because we want to be lazy - but that if we are more relaxed, we are then more conscientious of tasks so the workday runs smoother and we would be less stressed. It would benefit everyone, but it seems making money to pad C-suite's paychecks is more important than building a better workforce.

I know for many people they do feel like it was the pandemic itself that was traumatizing to live through, but for many of us it was the response to the pandemic, the abusive ways in which people in charge treated the population and turned our lives upside down, as well as the ramifications we are still living with today from all of this, that was the real trauma. I fear for the future now, for another pandemic or emergency being used as a reason to do this or worse to the population again. I fear the hurt that was done to people being done again. Life is for living and we ought to be supporting each other despite our differences. We all have different beliefs about what choices are crucial for us, what's essential to us, and respecting each other to make those calls for ourselves and our loved ones is necessary to our happiness, our safety, our wellbeing.

All of this overdoing it leads to perfectionism! I'm still trying to get rid of it! Best way to be perfect is just do what you think is best, and believe it's enough!

Hi Mel. I love your content. This is me. I'm lost empty and sick. I have been sick for 14 years . I got COVID for the first time In December. Now I have long COVID on top of everything. Went through a divorce. Can't work. I can't drive, watch TV, use the dishwasher or washer and dryer. I live in pure silence. I thought I would get used to it. But it's gotton worse. I was poisoned with arsenic 14 years ago. That's why I can't do anything normal. I'm abnormal and a freak. I am worried about my bills. Am I going to be homeless or worse dead. I can't stop crying. I can't sleep. And I live in constant fear and loneliness. I have never been this frightened. I don't know what to do. I'm 62 years old. Don't look sick. Can you please help me. Please.

I'm not disagreeing with anyrhing that is being said, I LITERALLY stopped watching commercial TV but mainly to do with the news because of "COVID". I feel really bad for the children and adolescents at this time. My biggest worry wS THE 'PEANUT ALLERY', having to deny my son of perfectly good food to respect others. But tiny bit of perspective war, depression, oppression caused MAJOR financial issues. Then there has been Massive economic downturns and Austalia suffered a HUGE loss when home loan rates were 17.5% in the 80's/90's. I hated what happened, it created massive ongoing affects but there is an ols adage that 'history repeats itself'. The only uncertainty we dont know now is how much are the people willing to be pushed. How much does politcs allowus to be wrongly influenced?? And are they the ones suffereing like we do. DONT think so
