Hey there boss. I'm sure someone has already made a comment on this but FYI an abalone is a type of shellfish. I used to work at a sushi restaurant as a fry cook/prep worker. This was one of the ingredients the head chef would use in an omakase( chef choice) platter. It was quite popular. I would collect the shells cause of their unique colors and size variants.

Abalone is pronounced “Abba-low-nee”. They are a mollusk-like sea snail and are very hard to get, are very expensive, and you can only obtain them during abalone season once a year and can only be obtained by having a license and are limited to 1-3 per season per person. You can only obtain them by free diving meaning you can only use snorkels and weights, oxygen tanks are prohibited. Strictly enforced by Fish-and-Game wardens who watch day and night to ensure no over-fishing or poaching as abalone is on the endangered species list. I used to dive for my own near Fort Bragg, CA with my father and uncles, One guy got caught with 12 abalones and was arrested and charged with a Felony. The shells are beautiful and are sought after by jewellers and craftsmen for their rainbow shine to make necklaces. As for the meat, it is highly sought after and can run about $50-$100 per plate at a restaurant.

If you go to deadboot creek ( it’s north of lake Isabella) make your way up the creek /waterfall to the north part or beginning of it you will find a trinket already made. You will have to get in the water so I Advise using your horse to swim across.
