If you don't want to pay $10-15K over MSRP for a Kia Telluride SX Prestige, here's your ride. I think the Pathfinder is an fantastic improvement over the previous-gen in style and function. Plus you can get these loaded at MSRP or less. Moving to the 9spd is still more desirable over the dreaded CVT. I also think this is a better buy than Nissan's own glam version, Infiniti QX60.

That is why I'm picking a Pathfinder up this year sometime. Can negotiate $3,000 off MSRP on the Nissan vs. obscene markups on Telluride PLUS Nissan has 0% for 36 months on top of it vs. 5-7% at Kia.

The Pathfinder, per Consumer Reports, has the worst reliability rating from its subscribers of any vehicle. And its not Nissan bias, because the Nissan Rogue by contrast has above average reliability rating and was in the recommended class, whereas the Pathfinder was strongly recommended against per April 2023 Automotive edition CR magazine.

this generation of the Pathfinder looks sooooo good! I love the blacked out front grill, especially on the white body. I owned a '95 and '08 Pathfinder and really like this new one. I drive an Xterra now and hope Nissan brings that back since they are killing it with the designs on all their vehicles.

In hindsight, I suppose no one actually said, 'Full sheet of plywood.' 🤨 In comparison to its entire field of competitors, the Highlander Hybrid's 35 mpg really stands out.

I bought a 2019 Mazda CX-9 in January of 2020 specifically because we would have three boys in car seats/boosters and love have the 3rd row access with all three car seats in the 2nd row. It really is a killer feature. If you are willing to trade some cargo space for better driving feel and fuel economy, the CX-9 is a no brainer. I love driving it. Also the luxury feel and features for the money is very strong.

I am impressed by the towing capacity of this vehicle, but couldn't find any information about the payload anywhere, including the official Nissan website. I checked Alex's video, the two-year-old one. Beyond my expectations, Alex gave a very detailed description of this vehicle's towing capacity, read the payload number, and even discussed other options in the unibody SUV segment that can offer higher towing capacities. The Pathfinder has been one of the 3 row CUVs that I've recommended to friends over the past few years. Rented a couple of the prior generation ones when we had a larger group traveling together for business. Ironically the first time I did, I had reserved a minivan, but National was out when we arrived and gave us a Pathfinder. By the end of the week, all of us agreed it was a very comfortable, quiet, and easy-to-live-with vehicle. As we weren't exactly "caning it", the CVT behaved very nicely and performed well. The second time I actually choose a Pathfinder for a similar travel team and again, we all agreed it was a lot more pleasant vehicle than for which the media gave it credit. Hope the ZF 9-speed is tuned similar to the way Honda has done so for their vehicles -- and unlike Jeep; should prove to be a good match for the V6.

Been driving a 22' Pathfinder Platinum for about 3 weeks now and I love it. Well built, good interior and exterior. No major complaints except for the remote starter. If you have the horn setting on when you arm the car alarm, remote starting it will trigger the alarm. Kind of silly tbh...but my right knee brushes up against the dashboard around the screen. Otherwise, to me it look and drives better than the Telluride and Pallisade.

I bought a new 2015 the previous design, loved the looks best seats ever!! But cvt was a joke and hvac was worst ever design. I kept it 3 years 37k miles. Just bought my 2022 Toyota 4 runner, never owning another cross over again. Your reviews are always well laid out and give the pros and cons for every car you test. Great work as always

I will definitely be buying this model Pathfinder when I retire my 16' Outback 3.6R. Larger, more practical interior space, 2nd row captain chairs (aka gap between the seats for skis & hockey sticks), looks great inside and out, no more CVT, more horsepower (still a V6!), double the towing capacity, yet it returns the same fuel economy as my CVT Outback. What's not to love about this new Pathfinder!

Should be decent. ZF have a good record. This 9-speed had a reputation for a lack of refinement when introduced, unlike their 8-speed, but they seem to have refined it over recent years.

@@markmiller3279 ZF 9speed and those dog clutches. Each manufacturers tuning of the shifts are a bit different. Due to the nature of dog clutches, shifting will be a bit different. Mainly a bit slower if you want it smooth. Clunkier if you want it fast.

Platinum trim has more than 2 way lumbar I think 8 way. Stearing and seat position wheel is automatic and will adjust to the drivers keyfob seat great for 6ft me and 5ft 2 wife.

At 23:05 you speak to long-term reliability of the hybrid. I agree however for those that keep our cars for 10-20 years, the cost to replace that battery pack is a little eye watering (including labor.)

Agree with you 100% on the removable third seat in the middle. I would want a top trim but DO NOT want captain's chairs. Telluride and palisade refresh coming 4/13, it's a shame dealers can't keep them in stock so prices are generally MSRP or higher.

I too am looking for a 3-row crossover with a 2nd-row bench seat in *top trim* - Explorer will let you option a 2nd row bench seat, and the Acura MDX (referenced by Alex) has a great solution to the bench vs captain's chairs debate. Please let me know what 3-row crossovers *you've* come across in top trim with 2nd row bench seats. It's just so stupid that all the non-luxury brands insist that you buy captain's chairs to get all the bells and whistles (except MDX.)

We have a 2020 Highlander Hybrid AWD model LE. We have 3 row seating, MPG in winter averages 35 MPG, in summer high 30's to low 40's MPG here were we live in N/W Oregon on the coast. Gas is $4- over $7 a gallon depending on were you live. MPG is # 1 now, any new vehicle should be at least a hybrid, plug in hybrid, or pure electric.

We ended up trading in our Pacifica hybrid due to numerous issues and got a grand Cherokee L. I do wish I had the electronic second row to move the seat up to get access to the 3rd row. Our 10 year old struggles a bit to move the seats herself. Really like the pathfinder but noticed all the ones being delivered locally have the captains chairs deleted for the bench seat.

@@hellkitty1014 yea ours is an overland that comes standard with captains chairs but ours was ours came with the bench seat for an extra charge (we didn’t order it, purchased from the dealers lot). It’s a catch 22 because with captains chairs, it’s only a 6 seater but with the bench, it’ll seat 7 but make access to the 3rd row a little difficult. I wish it had a removable center seat like Alex mentioned for the pathfinder in this video. So far it’s been great with the jeep. We’ve had a pathfinder, ascent, and Pacifica hybrid and the jeep is by far the smoothest and most refined vehicle we’ve owned. The air ride suspension is really nice.

This can be confusing and is not easily found because within the industry there are no standards terms such H as regular, deluxe , and supreme. Manual 3-rd row is my preference - better reliability (I can't imagine the cost to replace one of those motors.) And at 20:28 you talk about 2-row and 3-row cross shopping. I'm doing just that; I don't need the 3rd row except in very rare circumstances, but I want the cargo space that these mid-size 3-row vehicles offer.

Ill be looking close at this vehicle in the next couple yrs. I have a '17 Rouge and even though my wife loves it, a set of twins and a dog has made a small SUV positively claustrophobic. Not only is the last gen Pathfinder hideous in all but the tippy top trims, that cvt is slathered in lawsuits right now (my rouge included though no issues yet). I would gladly sacrifice mpg for sq ft at this point, I'll just wait until the used market is flooded, prices come down, and reliability is tested.

The Koreans have really improved the reliability. Plus even Toyotas reliability isn’t as good as it used to be. You’re buying a Toyota for the expectation of future reliability The Koreans offer a longer warranty. And reliability for the first few years shouldn’t be a problem

The only issue with Nissans were their CVT transmissions. They have now replaced the CVT in the Pathfinder with the ZF 9 speed automatic transmission. It has better styling and better interior quality over the Highlander as well, so it will be a better buy over the Highlander.

You and me both, but now with the advantage of 5 months having passed, we know that the Grand Highlander will almost certainly come with the 2.4L turbo, like the newest regular Highlander now has. Good news is that it looks like the Grand Highlander will be offered with drivetrains from the new Lexus RX, so not all is lost!

The 22 Outlander is a Shared platform/clone with a Nissan Rogue. Which is asmaller platform.. and Mitsu added a 3rd row....that is only useful for amputees only.

Put your friend in 2nd row, slide seat forward a bit, put yourself in 3rd row and show us how comfortable both of you are. That is the way to review practicality. Not just stuff yourself in 3rd row and say “if the 2nd row guy move a bit i have have better space”. Who will be in 2nd row? Your family member right? So he ll move a bit. Show us real leg space after adjusting seats. Now i have to literally go to show room and check it myself. I didn’t get from this review what i wanted.

The Pathfinder is better b/c it has the foot trunk activation. The Armadas suck due 2 not having this hands free foot trunk feature!!

It’s funny how they advertised the previous model to tow 6000lbs but it had a CVT. I don’t think I would feel comfortable towing anything with a CVT. I love how this has a 9 speed tranny now. I like the looks of the telluride and palisade over this one but, honestly, I don’t find it too bad. I’m not crazy for the front end but I love the rear end with the large pathfinder nameplate. I wish Kia named the telluride something else otherwise I’d consider it. I can’t stand saying it out loud. Is it ridiculous too not buy a good vehicle just because of its name?

If the name bothers you thst much, sure, it's reasonable. Not sure what you fimd offensive. Like so many other models it's named after a place in the West. So are the Tahoe, Taos, Tucson, Santa Fe, and others.
