This is the Lost Mine Trail, a true Big Bend Classic. If you are visiting Big Bend National Park and you only have time for one hike then it should probably be this one. This Texas hike is 4.8 miles roundtrip and has about 1,100 feet of elevation gain. This is the easiest way to see the commanding views out over the desert.
The trailhead is small and it is very busy in the early morning...so you might have an easier time later in the day. If you go late make sure to bring a headlamp and make plenty of noise on the trail. It's not uncommon to see mountain lions or black bears here on this trail.
