This was their attempt at realism back then. The technology just wasn't as advanced. Black ops cold war actually feels pretty similar in art style, but with better quality assets. I do agree that this game is pretty amazing though.

This was the first CoD I owned. It was an insane amount of fun. Never quite had as much fun with video games after it. Probably because Call of duty just slowly declined after this. I know people say black ops 2 is the GOAT but I was already disinterested in the franchise at that point so I didn't really have much fun with it.

CoD Declined after MW2 in 2009. I cringe that im about to be that guy rn but I got my Xbox 360 in 2005, played tf out of Cod 2, CoD 3, CoD4, World at War, and MW2, and I remember when Black Ops 1 came out it just didn't have that same spark to me as the first few games. I genuinely started feeling like CoD was getting repetitive and boring by the time Black Ops 1 dropped. Great game considering it was the first one to be set during the Cold War and I remember being hyped about it for that very reason but the multiplayer was just a rehash of CoD4/WaW/MW2 to me.
