@@cececox6399 Thank you, Sirius and James might have been worse to Snape than he was to them, but a lot of people who have read the books forget that Sirius and Remus told Harry, that Snape would curse James any chance he got too, another reason James didn't like Snape because he was into the dark arts, Sirius tells Harry in GOF Snape knew more spells when he started Hogwarts then half the seventh years, they cursed anyone they thought was wanting to be a Death Eater, and Snape was, he even called muggle-borns mudblood. Not trying to excuse their behavior, it was awful, and they might have attacked him without being provoked at times, but they didn't hate him for no reason or just because he was friends with Lily, and Snape did curse at least James at times too, at least according to Sirius and Remus.

He, like Regulus Black, didn't recognize Voldemort for the evil that he was until it was too late. Regulus, I can understand, he was brainwashed by his parents, but Snape had no such excuse. Perhaps peer pressure played a part in it, but he had already hated and distained all Muggles, not just his father, even before he stepped foot in Slytherin and it was this hatred of them that put him on the path that he walked. Joining the Death Eaters was very attractive to him because he liked their ideals.

Another important reason for Snape's hatered towards Sirius was a Cruel Prank played on him by Sirius, wherein Snape was tricked into visiting the Werewolf Remus Lupin in the Shreiking Shack. Had it not been for James then there was a very likely possibility that Snape might've ended up dead or ended up as a Werewolf. Even after 20 years, Sirius never regretted or ever bothered apologising for that incident.

The reason there are differences between the written books and the films is. A director makes his film version based on the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. He does not slavishly follow the books. And in this case the film company was WB. (Warner Brothers). These are Jewish and have originally Hebrew names, but got British ones in parentheses. I love the Lore that is made into a movie. Love and dark forces are at war with each other. The nice always win. Because light and love are all-mighty, and even if evil is mighty, they lose. Harry and his friends and fellow students along with the school's professors and students' parents "Defeated" the Slytherin heir Voldemort. Together with; wisdom and magic. For all the Horcruxes were found and destroyed. And then Voldemort's spirit (soul) disappeared forever. It also ended with the children of all the characters taking the same journey on the Hogwarts express to school. But there is a small error about the muggle family Dursley here. Harry's aunt Pentunia Dursley (born; Evans). Was jealous of his sister Lily Potter (born; Evans). Because Petunia's application was rejected, and Lily's passed. Because Lily knew magic, but Petunia didn't. That's why Lily became a Witch. And in the house they tried to live normally, and magic was not allowed. Therefore Vernon raised Harry very "strictly". As punishment, Harry received permanent House Arrest and was locked in a small storage room under the stairs. Snape was not jealous of Potter James, he had not forgotten that as a young student at school he was bullied by James. So he was mad at him for that. And because Harry's face reminded him too much of James's. Did Snape treat Harry like he did in the movies. He snapped his hand at Harry's head and called Harry's father lazy and arrogant. Because it was James Potter who finally won Lilly Evans' heart. And Snape has a bit of envy and love-sorrow for that. Sirius Black and Severus Snape's loathing of each other wasn't because of blood status, it was mostly, because of the usual excuse of how Slytherin house brings out the worst collection of people since Salazar's leave of Hogwarts and also due to the fact that Snape found himself associate himself with the pre-formed group of Death Eaters that would follow Voldemort and his official group of Death Eaters a few years later, plus, Snape was jealous of James because he saw Lilly hanging out with him, Sirius was not the target of Snape's jealousy, just James Potter alone. Snape's relationship with his own housemates were only associative relations only, he didn't have the charismatic tools to know how to make proper friends.

i dont think snape hated sirius because of his friendship with james, because it seems pretty clear he hated james too, im reading the books right now and it goes into some detail about how sirius and james would basically torture snape at school just because they were bored, they were bad enough that lily hated james to begin with because of how he treated snape

Snape wasn't jealous of Sirius's relationship with James 😂 He hated them equally. James for stealing Lily and bullying him, and Sirius for bullying him and almost getting him killed. But Snape wasn't innocent either. He gave it right back to them and called Lily, who was supposed to be his best friend, a Mudblood.
