Saw him in DC a while back when he was at the very beginning of the tour for Comeback Kid, and it was great to see the progression from "2nd stop on the tour" to "produced Netflix special filmed over the final few shows after 8 months of touring" - like, the tentpole bits were already there (Clinton closer, comparing a cow to a girlfriend, etc), but a surprising amount of it was just audience interaction like you'd expect to get at a comedy club rather than a theater show. Highlights included a quick pull after finding out someone was a cartographer and going for a quick Rand McNally joke mixed with a pun about Atlas ("Holy shit, I never realized people actually worked for Rand McNally...do you ever just feel like you've got the whole world on your shoulders?" or something like that) and a 10 minute stint where he had to deal with a drunk heckler who he "could tell never really made it to the show...I mean, you've got a doll's eyes...glassy, dilated, and silently judging me while I sleep." Honestly one of the best shows I've seen, 10/10 would recommend.

I love how John's interviews go. He's usually quiet and "simple" at the beginning, then he starts to read the interviewer and the atmosphere, asking questions and "charming" who's around ("charming" was the best way to put it in one word, but I think it's more about making sure the person is comfortable and joking around subjects they have in common). That's why they're always funny, he's so considerate and adaptable, even though his sense of humor and personality remains the same.
