Okay, I have to correct you on something you've been passing on to your viewers, Reno, and that I've heard some attorneys (incorrectly) advise. It is *NOT* illegal to take your standard cap mag out of state with you and return with it. That is not defined as "importing", even by the State of CA. The definition of "import" is to bring into the State from a point of origin outside the State. If you purchased an item within CA, then CA is its place of origin when you took possession of it, and taking it back and forth with you across state lines is simply possessing your property during your travels. Otherwise, if we take these attorneys' poor advise at face value, then every single time you drive your vehicle back into CA when visiting another state, that is the same action and would be subject to CA's Usage Tax, and you'll have to pay sales tax on your vehicle's value every time. Is a person re-importing the money in their pocket, the wedding ring on their finger, their phone, their other property, etc every time they go on vacation to Las Vegas? No. And the same goes for standard cap mags.

Pinning this. And while it very well may be true here’s the big thing to still think about. It’s been talked about a handful of times online that people driving from Nevada have been stopped on the ca border and cops have found mags. Even if you legally own them it’s still possible that cops can potentially put you in jail temporarily and you could lose your rights for a time. I just today got an email from a man who owned mags legally but the cops took them all and charged him with 19 felonies. He eventually got let out after a few days and after suing got his rights and his property back. But it took over 9months of being disarmed and treated like a criminal

@@RenoMay Understood, and point well taken. But please bear in mind (as I'm sure you do...I've been following you for years here) that the issue of legality and the issue of LE ignorance are two different matters. My point is to simply clarify the legality as per CA P.C. I work closely with LEOs/LEAs who understand the law and largely disagree with the mag ban, but who have advised me to be cautious as well due to widespread ignorance among the LE community. After all, there are so many laws on the books here in CA - and the status of 2A related ones change so often - that it's becoming increasingly harder for LEOs to properly enforce. To parrot your oft-mentioned line, "I am not an attorney, and this is not legal advice. Do what your own knowledge and conscience demand that you do."

Unfortunately, I was following the directions of Google Maps and for whatever reason, it had changed my route from what I had originally planned and as I got close to Las Vegas, I saw a sign that told me that I was entering PROK (People's Republic of Kalifornia), followed soon thereafter with going through one of the road blocks for "agricultural inspection"... I hastily grabbed a towel and tossed it over the center console area so that it would cover my handgun... Of course, the handgun that I was carrying had more than 10 rounds in it and I knew that PROK would not accept my out-of-state CHL... On my way back from Las Vegas though, I made sure that Google didn't route me through PROK...

Folks I was born and raised in SoCal and left in 1980 when I joined the Army. Growing up back then, I could, as a 15 year old, go into my local K-Mart and buy a brick of 22LR and a case of 20 gauge shotgun ammo, without any problems. Back then there wasn’t gun registration, ammo purchase cards, etc etc. I spent 21+ years in the Army and saw how California declined into its current status. I became a cop then changed my career field to counter terrorism. Here is the legit deal with cops and the laws. They receive 1-2 weeks (depending on the state) of very basic rules of law… very basic fundamentals, just enough to pass the exam. Then once a year they have an annual legal update as part of their annual training requirements. With all of these fast paced changes in this area, the State Attorney General’s Office can’t keep pace, the local DA’s office can’t keep up. That leaves the enforcement agency pretty much out of touch. The local DA’s are the ones responsible for charging and and taking to trial all cases. Because of this conflict in this area of the law, depending on the local DA, departments are given police directives on how to enforce in these clear as mud gun/mag laws. 99.9% of all LE out there don’t agree with these BS laws in California. Unfortunately, they are required to enforce based on department policy. If they don’t they become in jeopardy of facing legal consequences for failing to enforce laws. It is a catch 22 for them as well. Of course there are the .1% of those with contempt of cop syndrome who take pride in enforcing all the laws no matter how ludicrous when they have discretion to just give warnings or do nothing. Every profession has them. I can say I am glad I’m not a cop in today’s world!

CA doesn't recognize the CCW of, or have reciprocity with any other state. As such the only states where you can concealed carry with a CA ccw are already permitless carry or constitutional carry states to begin with, so that doesn't matter. Want to concealed carry in Utah or AZ? Go ahead. You can't carry concealed in NV with a CA ccw, but Nevada is an open carry state; and as far as concealed carry is concerned, it only pertains to having your gun physically hidden on your person. If you have a loaded pistol in your glove box, that's fine without a permit in NV.

The people that founded this country literally put everything on the line. What yall think the king would have done , had they lost? Men died, risked jail, execution, everything.. Nobody in modern times are willing to even risk getting pulled over... The only rights we have are those we are willing to meet God over. Everything else is a state granted privilege

Since when did you have to check the local sheriff's department policy to not break a law? I thought the laws were supposed to be the law.

How can the California legislators truly believe that CRIMINALS WILL OBEY this law and why would a law abiding citizen want to start at a disadvantage against a threat. It’s like having insurance you don’t want to burn your house down but just in case!

Nothing says "commonsense gun safety" more than living in constant fear that you're breaking the law when you're trying to be a law-abiding good boy for the state :D

We should never stop fighting, because it matters. I do think people should emotionally prepare themselves for the Ninth Circuit once again saying "the second amendment means whatever we say it does and it doesn't mean you can have any meaningful gun rights" and then the Supreme Court saying "nah, we're not hearing this case."

I live in Texas and I follow California news outlets and I see a lot of shootings there. Literally 95% of the shootings that take place, the shooter does one of the following: Buys a regular magazine in Arizona or Nevada. Makes their own with more than 30 rounds Legally obtain a standard capacity magazine that was Cali compliant pinned at 10 and modified to be at full capacity Or And this is a common one... Multiple shooters, each with 10 round mags

I used to live in Commiefornia, then I decided I would rather die than live on my knees. So I moved to a free state, Missouri. Yes I now freeze and am a long away from the beach, at least I don't have to live in fear of the criminals and communist politicians.

On the topic of CCW with freedom week mags, your permit might have a limitation about carrying with a high capacity magazine but I see no way for that permit to limit your ability to carry a freedom week magazine on your person because there is no law about concealed carry of parts. So if you have a California mag in your CCW gun but a freedom mag as a spare (not in the gun), you are legally good. If you have to use your gun and reload, it's no longer concealed so you are still fine. Just put your California mag back in before re-holstering. Practically a dumb cop might not get the legal distinction so you might lose your magazine but you won't get convicted on a CCW charge if you have a valid CCW license and a California mag in your CCW firearm. You might get detained or even charged with a crime but it shouldn't stick. So you might lose a magazine or get hassled if you are unlucky. Just know the law and push it to the limit without breaking it.

Wait…… the governor and attorney general are “nuisance items “ why are they not confiscated by California law enforcement?
@Madocthevindicator6 ай бұрын
Doesn't a cop have be able to count past 10 to confiscate your mag? Not likely. Every week is freedom week in Oregon. 20 minute background check, walk out with a real gun and a couple thousand rnds. of ammo.

I was so confused at first cause I didn’t know he was talking about Commiefornia 😂 bruh in Oklahoma you can get those mags for $10 at the bass pro down the road from me and keep them fully loaded with green tips in a rifle in the back seat of your car and all a cop will say is “hey nice gun” 😂
@Chrizy96Ай бұрын
But you’re technically not importing when going into Nevada from CA and to CA from Nevada with those mags…. Import / Export consists of a sale or trade which you’re not doing with your property!
