Very true. My best friend was just a receptionist at a spa for years and they would train her to give laser treatments. My bestie was not a skin specialist, nurse or anything medical/dermatology. She was down for training and all but I found it weird they would let her do that being that she wasn’t qualified for that kind of work. Be careful people out there, I heard of things like this.

When I expressed my pain The aesthetician said to me it’s supposed to burn as she was doing the treatment. She stated it was normal. Actually, it depends on what laser it is. There’s different levels of lasers.. the one that medical aesthetician uses are diode lasers with a cooling tip which is safe for all skin types. The skin only burns if the handle is used incorrectly. Secondly, there are contraindications of some clients who can’t be doing laser such as being on medication that is photo sensitive, breast feeding, pregnancy, epilepsy, cancer. You don’t need a MD doctor in the room unless you’re doing services with injections or PRP. If you’re doing anything that IS invasive, have a doctor or a nurse there. Other than that, depending on a laser, it’s totally fine.

Thank you for your comment. It seems as though individuals forget about different state's laws and regulations. Proper education, field experience and insurance is mandatory in this industry. Worked with plenty of Estheticians who have had to correct work post in office appointments with physicians. Let's not talk about the nurses that leave the hospital to attend esthetics institutions to study skin and these processes because they have no idea.
@nakedperfectionspa20992 жыл бұрын
I will also say the last two practices should probably not be open...especially the last one. lol Couldn't tell if it was a joke or not. Gives aestheticians a horrible reputation when the entire industry isn't like this. You need to review the state, every person is different, and different forms of technology. Furthermore explaining, IPL, Diodes, Lasers are all different and work with different forms of energy. To simply mention YAG and Alex is very minimal.

STOP and read. I’m getting laser now in my bikini area and upper lip and I’m NOT getting the results I want. So honestly, it might not be worth it for the following reasons (I know it’s long but bear with me it might be a worthwhile read): - THE CANDIDATE SPECTUM IS SLIM: They say darker skin and lighter hair means it will work less (i.e. light skin with blond hair won't work; dark skin with any color hair won't work) so one would assume that a person with medium to med-light skin and very dark hair would be the best candidate - they're not. I am half black half Arab so I have a medium skin tone--tan but not too dark. I have hair everywhere and esp. on my bikini it is VERY long, dark and STRONG. I’m far into my treatments and it’s not working that well. My aesthetician (a white lady) said it might not work because I’m too dark. I’m NOT that dark and even if I am my hair is so dark and thick the laser should be able to do its job. The PERFECT candidate is a very light skinned person with very dark hair and not much hair to begin with. But how many of those people actually exist??. Update: Unless you are very fair skin BE SURE TO ASK YOUR AESTHETICIAN WHAT LASER THEY USE AND DO NOT PURCHASE A PACKAGE UNLESS THEY USE THE **YAG** LASER. - IT IS NOT PERMANENT: I want everyone to be aware of this (b/c I wasn't and now I’m regretting it) laser IS NOT PERMANENT. Any licensed aesthetician will tell you that in most cases laser hair removal results in 70-90% hair REDUCTION not REMOVAL. That's right, you're paying $500 to have less hair, not no hair. And if you want to keep that less hair, you're going to have to have yearly touchups with them at about $100-200 each. - HELLA EXPENSIVE: For bikini and upper lip I’m paying over $600 (and that's with a Groupon) and getting the unsatisfactory results above ^^ - IT TAKES FOR-FREAKING-EVER: An average laser package (6 treatments) takes over 6 months to complete (with a treatment every 6-8 weeks, no less). Word to the wise: if fun in the sun in the summer months matters to you, you MUST start treatment in October/November because any later and you'll be stretching treatment into the summer months and you can't let the treated are get tan at all - say goodbye to the beach) - IT FRIGGIN HURTS: Real talk ya’ll laser is THE WORST hair removal pain I have ever felt (more than waxing and threading…combined) although it is very quick (3 - 10 minutes minutes). - YOU CAN ONLY SHARE IN THE MEAN TIME: If you're a furry beast like me and shaving doesn't work for you (ingrown hair, poor hair removal, hair grows back quickly, itchiness) get ready to do nothing but shave the treated area for at least 6 months. You literally can not any other type of hair removal on it. - THEY’RE STINGY WITH WHAT THEY GIVE YOU: Know exactly what areas come with your package before you buy. Always have a consultation first. If you ask for a Brazilian or even bikini line, don't expect them to get that area on the inner thigh. When they say line they mean LINE, like literally where your thigh and pubic area meet. That's nice and all but that leaves the inner thigh area which is where the problem really is! And my aesthetician is doing my mustache and I was like "hey, can you get closer to the lip, I see there's still a lot of hair growth there" and she's like "oh, well, we can't get too close to the lip, don't want to damage it" and I’m like fair play with the safety but WTF!!?? You mean to tell me I’m going to be hairless on most of my upper lip but still have a line of fur around the perimeter of my mouth and there’s nothing you can do about it?? - THEY CAN’T EVALUATE THEIR OWN WORK: You have to go into the appointment shaved so IDK how the aesthetician knows where to target the laser since she can't see where the hair is. She says the laser has a buffer area where it spreads under your skin but obviously it’s not doing its job. This has left me with patchy hair growth and areas treated more than others. - CAN CAUSE SCABS AND SCARRING: At my last treatment (update: and the 3 treatments after that -_-) I think the laser was too hot. It caused little bubbly burns on my upper lip and what looked like scratches that scarred a bit all over my bikini area. I think this was because it was too hot and I put on my underwear too quickly (at my salon they practically usher you out of the door as soon as you’re done). Although I have to admit, I saw the most results with that treatment over all the others. The boils on my lips and the scratches did go away and I think the scarring will too in a few months but was still uncomfortable and sore. IDK maybe my aesthetician sucks (I did use a Groupon voucher, you get what you pay for) so if you can, try to buy your treatments individually and not as a group unless you know it’s going to work with you. Otherwise you’re stuck with the same bad service for months. In conclusion, if you're gonna do laser and dou're a woman of color, do YAG. If you're looking for PERMANENT hair removal, I hear ELECTROLYSIS is the best. Little more expensive than laser but apparently it's permanent. I hope I've helped someone understand the implications of laser hair removal. Don't be over-hyped by the media. Do your research and make sure it's the absolute best option for you.
@313angie15 жыл бұрын

@@313angie1 TBH I never thought about that until well into my treatment and you're absolutely right. My groupon voucher was a gift and myself and the person who bought it didn't do our research about the laser. I saw another tech for a consultation for my face and she straight up said "we can't do it, it won't be effective." But money is money and she just keeps making excuses for why it's not working. If I've done anything with my post I hope I've at least encouraged people to buy singular treatments and do their research first. Thanks angie for the feedback. It depends on the laser and the technician. I’m very honest with my clients and have always had good results, we use nd:yag which is ideal for deeper skin tone. It is reduction though. Electrolysis is more permanent. But with hormones and changes hair can grow back over time.

This drama queen “doctor” is a little overboard. Some things she says are true. but some things are not a big deal at all. I.e. -you DONT need a physician around to do laser hair removal-not a bad idea for some more in depth laser treatments (removal of warts around an eyeball perharps) but then again-a nurse practitioner “APRN” or even a PA on board is more than sufficient ( the aestheticians should have been trained properly on the procedures in their schooling as well)

Of course there are good places and bad places to go but here in DR we have a couple of certified medical spas with profesional trained doctors and dermatologist who know there stuff so i think that it depends more on where you go and with who you do these procedures !

Urgh, I'm contemplating on doing this for years now. But I don't see the trees through the forest anymore really. Ok, I know I have to go for laser and not IPL, but all dermatologists or even hospitals do just one consultation of a few minutes and after a nurse practitioner, or an esthetician even (even at hospitals) takes over. Futhermore a treatment for armpits, bikini and legs below the knee can vary from 350 (smaller lasers which are moved in the car by the estheticians, I wonder if they are as good as the big ones) -870 euro (those are bigger and stay at the clinics) per session. 750 is the monthly rent of a house here. Furthermore, I already have problematic skin: ingrowns (very red), eczema, dry, sensitive skin, so I'm so afraid, especially for the bikinline. The clinic I called today asked the highest rate, but said ingrowns and irritation doesn't matter, they just treat it like the other skin, they go over pustules from ingrowns and all... that made me think like: is this even a normal practice?

So in the uk you can do laser if you do the correct training. You do not need a doctor on site or a nurse.

Look into electrolysis. It's safer, and the only FDA approved of almost 90% permanent hair removal. Dont trust anything that will burn your skin. I live in Cali too, and never trusted anyone bc it's all about money. If you decide to do laser, make sure you have a doctor do it.m, and pay a bit extra to be safe. You get what you pay for.

It works. I had it done at 29 years old. Turned my Ape-like legs to Asian legs in 5 treatments. 18 months later and still missing 90% hair. It does hurt. My tech slides and ice pack to cover to area as she goes. Only had some redness for that day.

People are less alarmed when the a reporter's and their guests are cowards. "She's not being upfront.". No. You literally just said that what she said is 100% false. The correct way to say that is "She's lying."

No laser for me thank you. IPL is the best thing ever and so far everything wonderful, no pain, no redness and fast results, but of course you need to know what you are doing just like laser

Well, that law stating false advertising as being a crime in USA, the Land of the Free and home of the Brave, seems to in itself be false advertising. I have been interested in permament hair removeable for areas right next to skin graphs that cause harsh itching and ingrown hairs there as well. Thus far I have discovered that one treatment either does not work or is far to harsh. Yet I see videos like this one seemingly like it is a one time and quick procedure. However the area is shaved first. This makes me dubious as the shaved off area is well, shaved so you cannot see the actual area's hair removed. I realize I am niave becauae I never actually have tried it. Then of course there are price variations making the procedure even more dubious. Next, I have been looking into doing hair removal to myself, by myself which opens yet another can if hairy worms, such is the case with the machine's type and cost. So for years this has been a very itchy and hairy ordeal or worse. I found a spring door type hair removable thingy in a store and inspected it. Right from the start it claimed "PAINLESS." Can you believe that??? Then I saw a very sticky honey substance that you apply, then wait, then Yank it off along with the hairs. It had this reassuring and estute observation as well in it's advertising claining it is "PAINLESS" And finally this duct-tape type, also claiming it was "PAINLESS." ADVERTISING FALSELY is illegal in USA, it is fraud. Seems a person could become independantly wealthy in USA just by suing blatantly bogus companies doing such false advertising. Even using terms as "slightly discomfortable" or a "discomfortable" procedure procedure for these devices is far beyond anything that could be considered exerated advertising. So... why am I not rich? Well, it seems false advertising as a crime is false advertising. Fu

This is just bs what you are telling in this video. Do not tell people such incorrect information. First of all, start explaining the difference between the laser and IPL treatment. How string is the energy that a cell is exposed to. It is highly dependent on the duration of the event of course. I personally tried the IPL for several times and as far as I'm concerned, it is safe. A doctor does not have to be onsite for this and in many countries there is not even a nurse onsite but just the trained person who is in most cases not even educated to this business, if you assume that the used laser source is dangerous which is not.
