The definition of love is very beautifully explained in chaitanya charitamrita..According to Śrī Caitanya-caritamṛta, love is the desire to please the senses of Lord Kṛṣṇa, while lust is the desire to gratify one's own senses. Some other characteristics of love according to Śrī Caitanya-caritamṛta include: Love is causeless: True love is unmotivated and given without conditions or expectation of return. Love is patient and determined: True love is unceasing and desires the good of the beloved. Love is an act of faith: True love is based on trust in the beloved. Love inspires a vibrant memory: True love creates a bond with the beloved that is renewed and refreshed through memory. Love is different from lust: Lust is like dense darkness, while love is like the bright sun. Love is possible in the spiritual world: Prema, or love, is only possible in the spiritual world.

Vaishnavi Shakti I.e. The power of *hlad* (sanskrit) which is loosely termed as prem, love, devotion etc. has the power of giving instant samadhi (i.e. staying in that instant without feeling the passage of time) However, all great sages have indicated that the modern age is unfortunately one of tantra (scientific system) domination where one takes the difficult path of trying to reason out everything. Here only repetition of mantra (japa) can succeed. Vaishnava sages have also indicated strongly that this hlad is not attainable by practice (sadhan), but only by the will of the almighty (Srikrishna)
