Baldur’s Gate 3 was incredibly frustrating as a new player, and I almost quit because of it. I’m so happy I decided to stick it out, because what I found was one of the most fulfilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

Majority of games are so dumbed down nowadays, where combat does not require the player to think at all, there's no problem solving in many games nowadays, no critical thinking required. You know when back in the day every game required critical thinking and problem solving skills? Too many games now are designed in a way where you can beat the game without thinking. Your video is a perfect example when you said you weren't enjoying the game because you were, to put it very bluntly very bad at the game and did not understand how the game worked. That's not the game's fault at all. And to me i cannot fathom not enjoying a game where you suck at. To me if I suck at a game, it only inspires me to get better and master it. People now are too conditioned to not wanting to improve and just get rewarded for nothing. It's ironic though BG3 isnt even hard, Larian's other games are 10 times harder and a lot more complex. It's sad how the more mainstream the medium has gotten the more AAA games have been very dumbed down and catered to a more casual audience. Which is understandable because you want to attract as many types of gamers you want. But this is a double edged sword. Because this is where games become only a story telling medium rather than also being video "games". You know the "game" aspect which has a ruleset and you need critical thinking and problem solving skills to win? Now of course there are exceptions like Fromsoftware games which does require a lot of skill and problem solving skills and those games never hold your hand, but these types are exceptions. BG3 and Fromsoftware games just show that games can still be something which require critical and problem solving skills and still be very successful and there is a big market for games that require you to put some effort into.

I agree 100%. The real reason I wanted to make this video was because I can see a large percent of people jumping in, struggling, and then just giving up like "idk why everyone hyped up this bad game". People that did that really missed out on one of the best RPGs ever made imo. It was so satisfying to finally get the hang of the combat after struggling for so long; one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I've had.

nope only way is to jump straight up to tactician mode and suffer ... I played lot of Wasteland and xcom and generally love the turn based genre ... but had 0 DND knowledge of how he mechanics wroks atd but still jumped to my first playthrough straight on tactician ... and man it was a nightmare at start but also I dont remember last time I had this much fun suffering

Well if that works for you then go for it lol. I personally had enough trouble on balanced. But no matter how you play it, BG3 is incredible
