If you have biological children just co-parent only don't be her friend or a shoulder to cry on. If it doesn't have anything to do with your kids you don't have to speak. A friend who I have known for over 15 years once said to me that he and his wife never had a single argument over anything in the 8 years that they were married, not even small ones. I told him that there's absolutely no way that it could be true. So I also told him to be honest with me if he was either cheating on his wife or if he had some type of money issue that he's hiding from her. Because the only way I could see them living without even small disagreements is if one of them actually felt guilty about something they've done and are doing everything they can to keep the other happy to hide their guilt. And lo and behold, it turned out that his wife was indeed cheating on him with someone at her job. Marriage isn't perfect. It's not supposed to be. You support each other, struggle together, disagreements happen, you agrue, you make up, and through the good and bad, you find a way to continue to be happy together.
