When I was a kid in the 80s this song would bring me to tears thinking of someone I could not be with. Well I saw her years later and she still recognized and remembered me. Some people in life will always be in your heart no matter how much time has passed. I guess in a way that is what love does. Hope this makes sense.

This is one of the most painful love lost songs I've ever heard. When I first heard this song I was a teenager experiencing lost love for the first time. My heart was broken, and this song made me feel worse, yet I couldn't stop listening. It's been decades since I last heard this, and still it pulls at my heart and makes me want to cry. I would imagine that makes for a truly great song.

1979 the year I saw the movie The Champ by Jon Voight. This time he is fighting for America. I hope and pray God will be on the righteous side. Also as I finished watching the movie and moving outside, a stampede was going on in the lobby... this was then in Lyric Theater. Somehow I myself become a Champion unknown for saving more than 7 high school girls. I pull them under my knees and covered then just inside the round stair I was near. I was just lucky then... I hope those girls can remember me in prayers.

When I heard this song along time ago it was during a time when my family was ceasing to exist as a family. In the process I lost a little boy cousin, who I was close to and love very much I was a teenager and he was a kid I always felt like I abandoned him I always think of him when I hear this song and I know he is well. GOD opened up doors to a beautiful lady, we went out on a Blind Date 29 Feb 80, on Leap Year Evening. By the 1st Day of Spring we were married on 21 March 81. We just celebrated our 40th Anniversary.

"Promises AND LIES, too many times" not "promises IN LIFE, too many times." The latter makes no sense. He's enumerating what she saw when she looked into his eyes. Two things. 1. Promises. 2. Lies. She didn't look into his eyes and see promises in life. Listen closely. You can hear the "s" sound at the end of "lies."
