should we c-bet Out-Of-Position with our strong hands, or only c-bet when In Position?

@kevinpaskevicius1643 definitely c-bet if first to act. How much? Depends on stack size of you/opponents and type of players still on the hand and their range + what happened pre flop. If I'm not quite sure I'll bet but try to keep the pot under control while not looking weak. So the amount us key--as is what table image you have as well. Ive showed enough full houses, flopped sets, ace high flushes on the turn where I bet the flop, etc., that people who have been at the table for 3hrs+ or know me from previous sessions will fold 4/5 times if I triple-barrel a missed AK on the flop. They don't know that though. You have to have your opponent pegged short of seeing their cards, in conjunction with the flop. Otherwise you can lose big. It's less risky if you aren't sure to just c-bet if first to act, but allow yourself an out. Sooner or later you'll hit a monster and they'll think you're c-betting. Then... 😃 Sometimes if you have a tight image they'll just fold 😃. Just as important--you can get called b/c theyre trapping you or they can raise you 2-3x or more as if they're daring you. Unless you got some next level read or experience--thats why if you aren't sure--give yourself an out and control the pot. 👆Now... if you do lay down... Do the same thing later when you flop a set or better... do what you did when you gave up, except don't --then watch the magic happen 😉 One more thing you didn't ask but I gotta say. BR79 talks about it and it's true. When you got the goods... BET. Sure, occasionally people will all fold. But if you get JJ, raise, get called, and the flop comes down KJ4 'rainbow' or two cards to a flush even... BET! If you think your opponent is drawing you can bet without hanging yourself. If it's rainbow and no straight--you'd be surprised at the people that call you down with like, as an ex., an A10 that missed a Q on the flop b/c they wanna catch you b/c you 'always play good hands' or AK will hold on for life too whether your calling them or the other way around--but bet your good cards/hands and know when your beat.

Was in a tournament in AC once. Guy two seats to my left would flat call every hand preflop, then go gonzo once the flop came down. It was an easy read, because he was going full any-two, in every hand. So I get dealt KhJh in the big blind. It gets called around, I check. Flop comes down Qh10h7s. I check, and Gonzo bets into me for about a third of my stack. Everyone else folds, I call, it's heads up, and the turn was a 2c. I check. Gonzo goes after half my stack, I make the crying call. River comes down...Ace of Hearts. I'd just rivered a royal. I check, and Gonzo asks, "How much you got?" Music to my ears. I said "count it" as flatly as I could. Gonzo got the count, and proceeded to overbet it. Normally, you have to raise when you've got the nuts and you're last to act, but I couldn't, since I was being overbet. So I'm like, "Fine, I call and you lose." It was junk, as we all suspected. I turned over my royal and took a bow.

@@littleinkling4604 The trap pass on the river gave everyone at the table, two pieces of information: one, that Gonzo would overbet any board, with any two, even in the face of a royal flush on board. And two, that he was arrogant. He had my exact chip count, and overbet it anyway, just because he could. Nobody had to say a word: everyone at the table went after him after that.

Nathan, at the micro stakes are you just basic range reading? Or do you think more in depth with it? Like thinking about their bluffs/value bets etc? Or are we more just playing our hands and reading theirs very basic? Side note - I’ve found personally when I use the most basic range reading at micros I win, a lot
@BlackRain79Poker

Basic hand reading but adjusted by player type. I don't go into too much depth at the micros, mostly beginner level opponents. You will just end up levelling yourself!

It's a rookie mistake to "target" fish and try to get in the pots with them anyway. Preflop you should just stick to basic strategy and the fish will catch themselves. If you start playing wider to target limpers you just lose to the other regs.

Well, against the over aggressive bluffy players, we want to have a polarized raising range, with our strongest and weakest playable hands. We're obviously 3 betting with AA, KK, QQ, maybe JJ, depending on position of bluffy player, plus AK and maybe AQS. That gives us around 64 combos of value 3 betting hands. We're gonna need some bluffs here, or even Mr. hyper-agro will just fold. We want him 4 betting with AJ and TT. Then we have some easy folds with our bluff hands and make easy money getting it in dominating the crap out of his range with our value. Great bluff hands are A5 and A4S. That's 8 combos of bluffs and we block his AA. Same with some KingX suited hands, we're blocking his KK. I'll also 3 bet some trashy suited connectors and gappers against this player. Bottom line, you do need to fight fire with fire from the top and bottom of your range, and play pot control with good show down hands and bluff catchers.
