As a Aussie my immediate instinctual reaction on seeing the dog and people swimming in that inlet was "sharks!". In Oz that sort of inlet is often the haunt of dangerous bull sharks. Then a nanosecond later I relaxed and was jealous of the ability to safely swim in that sort of area.

I'm a van driving tradesman and my van has been broken into 5 times and i've had 2 cats cut off, each costing £1100 to replace. I have become totally paranoid where i park my van but the reality is, the people who commit these crimes really don't give a jot where a vehicle is parked, what time of day it is and even the amount of people around. Vehicle break in's used to be a night-time thing, one of my cats got cut off in the middle of the day on a residential side street with lots of people around. It's very depressing.
@LifeistooshortCK2 жыл бұрын
You hit the nail on the head. Crime has become so brazen that time of day and witnesses are irrelevant to them. I used to work burglary and vehicle crime in plain clothes in Brighton. 6 of us on a dedicated team who would just cruise around spotting them in action. We reduced those crimes to almost nothing over the course of one year but that was before more weird things became the priority. I feel for you having suffered all that. It’s a disgrace.

Hari Om Oh Look, there's the Shetland Trader all the way south... I sometimes spot her coursing the Clyde and she's often over in the Forth. Yes, I guessed it - a new bed layer and it does indeed look comfy. Now, let me tell you about my experience with the Citroen 2CV (of 45 years back)... the one for which it was necessary to carry a hammer at one's side in order to tap the solenoid everytime one wished to start the engine...and a spare pair of tights for the fanbelt shredding it tended to do... and its tendency to have the control pedals detach themselves from the levers they were intended to control. I suspect any of the original chassis still on the road will have had a complete engine replacement and reworking of the pedals! Just going to the shops was an epic adventure. YAM xx

Don't get me wrong guys, I'm a Brit by birth, My home is in France and I have not been back to the UK for a few years, But the thought of taking my camper to the UK for any length of time would worry the hell out of me, What with the traffic, attitude to campers, cost etc and yes the crime. The difference in France and many parts of Europe is so far apart that I doubt our Van will ever cross the water. Maybe I have been away to long and become soft? Great tips btw, Thanks.
@LifeistooshortCK2 жыл бұрын
I can understand that view and you would find the experience very different to France. It’s doable over here without too much trouble but if you want true peace of mind it has to be campsites. Campsites have changed though. These days they are extortionate, have too many rules and there seems to be constant noise from leaf blowers and mini tractors tearing around. France is huge, people are far more tolerant and the population is very spaced out. We are lucky being so close to the channel so we will be spending more time over there for sure. (well as much as we can of the 90 days allowance 😁)

How interesting, I would've never noticed. Thank you for pointing that out. That reminds me of the first time I've ever been to the UK, about 30 years ago, and seeing steering wheel locks. To this day you don't ever see those here in Germany, so I guess our local offenders are otherwise specialized and not so much into car theft. :) - So I just checked and I understand 101.198 cars were stolen in England and Wales (about 59 mio. inhabitants) in 2021, in Germany (83 mio) it was 9.805. Huh.

I can’t explain that. In the UK a lot of the minor crime feeds the illicit drugs industry. A lot of our stolen cars end up abroad.

Hi both, Woolroom is a good make without a doubt. When I moved to my little Bungalow I bought a new bed and decided now there is only me I'd have a single and give myself some more space. Couldn't track down another Fogarty one so I got a Woolroom one and the lightest weight. Don't think I could use a mattress topper as well as I'd feel like a Sunday roast I reckon. 🙄 You don't want to be driving one of those 2CVs they're horrible to handle. Every time you go round a bend the body feels like it is sliding across the chassis. Albeit that they don't pitch and yaw it's very disconcerting. The chassis and suspension was designed to enable french farmers to be able to drive a carload of eggs to market across a ploughfield at 90° to the furrows without any eggs breaking or dislodging from the trays. They're even wielrer to drive than a Reliant three wheeler. That Shoreham Airport building is a beautiful example of that Art Deco style you find along the South Coast and it looks like they've put a few Bob into rhe upkeep of it since the Seventies/ Eighties when we used to drive down to there and also Blackbush on a Sunday and watch all the little aircraft coming and going. Once again you have demonstrated that here in England we have beautiful scenery right on our own doorstep. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to the Norway visit. Keep well both. And Bruin out.

What a Lovely video Ken & Carol, Oh how we miss living near the sea and having those little cheeky dips and a splash about also evening strolls along the waters edge. Living up here in North Yorkshire is Lovely but it does get colder sooner and the Winters seem long, So its lovely and relaxing to watch you KZbin Chanel 😊

Each area has it’s strengths and weaknesses. You live in a beautiful part of the country but it does get cold 😁👍

Thanks for the video. How dry the countryside looks. Everything around our way in Australia is so green after the recent rains. Look forward to Norway in the near future. Interesting places you visit, along with the food experiences. Loved the Shoreham airport with its art deco buildings. Keep up the excellent work. Reminds me somewhat of Napier NZ with its profusion of art deco buildings, the town had to be almost totally rebuilt after a devastating earthquake. Innisfail Queensland is similar, that town had to be rebuilt after a massive cyclone struck.

New Zealand have it tough with those quakes as we saw in Christchurch. We had a bit of a drought over here this year. Some were screaming the end of the world but the rains came and boy has it rained since.

Here in East Kent, those are known as "July bugs", for obvious reasons. Used to see them a lot on the North Downs, and Folkestone Warren.

Interestingly, in Gloucestershire they are May bugs, Sussex call them June bugs and East Kent, July bugs. Must move Eastwards

We know Brighton quite well- we often stay in the Caravan Club Site. Sadly, it has a LOT of ‘undesirables’ and a serious drug problem - with all that attracts. Hove is better but, sadly, the problem is creeping along the coast.

We will add the one we use to watch in bed to our Amazon store link in the description. we clamp it to a little plank that fits across our roof. If its the one we use in the front of the van for navigation that was made for us as a gift from a viewer. Check our video on ipad navigation for details 👍

I live in Hove and park at that car park all the time. I had idea there was a car break in problem.
