When I was a kid...I heard so much negativity about this man. I never listened to him. Born and raised in church all my life. Taught all about the sweet by and by and give your tithes so you can be blessed and then give in 10 other offerings!!!! Most of the people I came up under lived poor....I came across a teaching of Rev. Ikes earlier today and was curious so I listened...now I am in no way saying I agree with much of what I heard....however, The man was deep! Intelligent and I like what he stood for...empowering his people and people in general. A school in NY? Never knew. So what am I doing at 11:16pm...checking out more of his messages and interviews. I judged this man more than 30 years ago because of what I heard and was told...I am eating those words on this day.

As a child I use to listen to him at night on my show and tell projector radio. My parents couldn’t understand why I liked to listen to Rev. Ike but I use just ignore them and every night would turn to the am station and listen until I feel a sleep. I use to always want to attend his church but I’m so happy you are posting these programs. If you keep your prayer life consistent there is no need to sing those old spirtual negro songs "Take my hand precious Lord." You go Rev. Ike, teach. That's why there is no "power" at the Altar in these churches. People use God on Sunday morning the most segregated day in this world to try and bind the wrong devil, red jump suit, a folk and pointed ears. Seven churches on one block, three churches on the same acre and two churches directly across the street from one another. And, no one waving or speaking to each other, or better yet sitting side by side and pew by pew in the church. We all singing, "When we all get to Heaven what a glorious time it will be. Lord, Lord, Lord thank you Rev. Ike for being on fire, being bold, with guts, grace and gumption. Stop, Rev. Ike, I know you are sitting next to the Father, looking down at us shaking your head. We gonna get it eventually!!!!
