It's quite amazing that people outside Africa and Yoruba kingdom in particular are doing a great job on Yoruba religion and the Orishas when the people back in Nigeria especially the Yorubas are forgetting this wonderful part of their heritage.

These descriptions of Shango makes me smile. They make me think of my mother whose head was marked for Shango and my daughter. Both are amazing cooks, charming, charismatic, magnetic, intelligent and go getters. My mom passed before getting crowned. My daughter will be crowned soon (god willing). My daughter always knew she was a child of Shango. She said she was since she was two yrs old. Lol. She naturally extremely spiritual with amazing spirits. Not only does my daughter love to cook, the child LOVES to eat. I am forever grateful for Shango. I came into this world through one and gave birth to one. I must add as child of Obatala, this is doubly sweet.

OMG your outro bring me the tears. As a child Shango it was hard to find my identity my place in this world, even though I always knew I was great. Never really understood why I dreamed so much. Where I couldn't even sleep to the point where I'm just having day mares where I had to fight just to have peace in my own mind. I have so much to say I'll buy how this interview made me feel. But I'll just leave it like this. Thank you for helping me embrace. My father orisha

I learned that I am a child of Shango and Oya a few years back but did not delve deep into what it meant until recently (after the passing of a great mentor). When Luis mentioned that children of Shango are spoiled and neglected at the same time that resonated with me and my childhood experience. Please point me to literature to learn more.

Kawo Kabiesi! Greetings to you Joseph Baba Ifa and your guest. Thank you for this very real, honesty& informative podcast. I am OniOni daughter of Shango. I hear you loudly when you say daughters of Shango is truly loved by him. I can attest to that in all aspects of my life. Baba as a crowned daughter of Shango I get hits like a son of Shango. I know it’s not only me. I know some of his other daughters are going through it too. We get it from all angles. But truth be told we never give up and we stand strong even when badly wounded by lies, deception, pure treachery by others. We stand for truth and honesty all day long. We are not perfect but we will be damned if anyone take our dedication, love for humanity and kindness as weakness. We are dedicated to our family even more. Some days it’s like when will it stop. People tend to just misunderstand us so much. We are thinkers outside of the box. We strategize, we read others energy like a book. And when they realize they can’t play us them they want to try and slander our name or reputation. Now that is the worse thing to do. I am not saying these things from a place of arrogance but real life situations. Our father is Shango and he holds us accountable for all our actions. We learn by doing, not by second guessing anyone. Our father has thought us early on that whatever we want we have to work hard for it. That pride in us is painful. But it seems like when we let our guard down and try to trust others that is when they think they can walk all over us. I tell others all the time, I’m an original child of Shango and I won’t go out like a carbon copy of anything in this life. Now I know why I was also blessed with having Yemaya as my mother because she helps me stay in balance. I can’t say and thank you both enough for this incredible podcast about Shango. You both touched on so many valid point that are so particular to children of Shango. I sincerely appreciate you both. May you all be eternally blessed. 🙏🏽❤️💛💚

My baba. He is my king and I love him so much. When you asked if a child of shango would come back wanting him as their guardian angle again in another life, I immediately said “hell fuck yeah”. Baba has been such a blessing in my life. Yes I have been through a lot but even not being crowned he has always been my rock. As a daughter of shango, he makes me feel like his little princess. There’s nothing I can’t ask for. He supplies it all (granted I’m not a lazy person and I do work very hard). I could be broke broke with nothing to my name and I can turn to him and say “papa, next week I need for you to make sure I’m feed at work until I get paid” I kid you not, two weeks straight people will order me food (I only asked for one week though). He gets mad if I stress about bills. He hate seeing me in any emotion that isn’t “happy”(I can feel him being bothered “what does she need?!?!?”) Spoiled is an understatement. As his daughter, if I need a car because the one I have is breaking down or something is wrong, it’s like he asks me “which car do you want?”. Whichever one I want, I get at a good price (whatever fits my budget but it almost always below what I say I can afford. I said $400 is a good payment, he said $259 boom! 😂 ). Papa, I need new tires…. Boom! I won the amount I needed off a scratch off. He makes me a queen in this world but I’ll always be his child. I am FOREVER grateful for his love, guidance, temperaments, etc. I wouldn’t trade him for NOTHING. It’s not easy at times and it may feel unbearable to handle certain things but he will never allow you to fold. Shango-“Get your ass back up, let’s finish this fight” Me- 😈say no more. I absolutely love and adore him. Omg!!!! and the tongue 👅. I can create heaven or hell with it. I sometimes wonder why I’ve been gifted such a power. Before I knew he was my father I use to say “God! Idk why you chose me to be this powerful but please help me not to abuse it and use it to bless your people.” It can get scary sometimes 😅😇😂. Anyways….Everything in this video was spot on. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼🫶🏼

In Brazil, in the state of Pernambuco, the cult of Shango is also very strong, to the point that people say "let's play a shango today" to refer to the fact that they are going to worship the African orishas.

I had the same experience with yeye oshun. I just knew I was her child, and in that same knowing I felt extremely disconnected to her. I was always intimidated to make offerings but I just couldn’t help honoring her signs, and meeting the characteristics of her children. I felt so bad because I had no one in the religion who could confirm this for me. Finally when I had my first divination in ifa I found out I had many ties to her. I was so happy. It was literally nothing new!! I knew it for years. She’s very sweet now that I confidently connect with her. She loves songs and she doesn’t play about being honored on the alter when candles are lit for others. I can truly feel when she’s guiding me in connecting with her.
