@@johnad101 Yes, it is an ancient spiritual system we brought along the way from ancient Kemet. We were all one under different name before we became Yoruba and Evwheh and so on. The name "Yoruba" as a group name for people who speak similar languages is a recent phenomenon coined by a Rev. Crawley in late 19th century for the purpose of bible translation into the common language of the area. Before 19th century, nothing like Yoruba as a name was around.

Ifa spread across parts of West Africa from Yorubaland. The only thing I am not sure about is if the non-Yoruba practitioners outside Yorubaland would render the Odu verses in their language or in Yoruba. I hear him say the whole of everything in nature is "Ko" (not sure I got the spelling right but surely not a Yoruba word). This statement and the gesticulation of his hands in a circular way suggest that "Ko" means "Odu" (a Yoruba word for source of everything, literarily "a pot of everything").
