Hard lesson learned, indeed. Shame to loose a cow that way. The opening scene went perfectly with the smoothie I was drinking. 😂 Have you ever thought of doing standup? You’re dad thinking the smell of your burnt hands was a fry up for tea had me crackin up.

Hello Adrian, gotta tell ya. I'm not 'good with my hands' but inspired by you, I took on sanding my front door with an orbital sander. Didn't do a great job but not the point. After watching you, I put on safety glasses and that probably saved my eye. There was kick-back of a hardened piece of wood and it flew back and embedded in the safety specs. I got an awful shock but your farm safety was in my mind. Thank you. P.S. It would be fair to say I made a balls of the door but no going back. I'm confident that I'm shbad at DIY. Bye

I burnt one of my hands on the iron sitting on the ironing board when I was a child. It hurt like blazes. Both hands would be much worse. Wearing gloves to protect your hands is a good idea. Glad the calves are over the cough. Cheers to you and your wonderful girls. 😊

We run a feedout wagon behind the tractor with bulk pit silage to avoid wrap. With wrapped bales, they go in the feedout wagon or on a bale feeder on the 3 point linkage that spins them off as you drive around the paddock. This means the plastic is taken off in the silage handling area by the plastic recycling bin, so there is none in the paddock. Not sure what cost of wrapping is in Ireland, but it is around 20 - euro each in New Zealand just for the plastic and 125/hr for the baler wrapper combi machine, and then you have to pay to get rid of the plastic. With pit silage, at least there is much less plastic.

Hi Adrian, As I was watching your video, I noticed that you left the battery for the fencer resting on the ground. I used to work as a store man, and anytime the battery sales reps called in, they would always tell us off if they saw that we had any of the batteries for sale resting on the ground. Apparently, when you do this, it can cause the battery to drain.

Had me laughing right out loud at the jokes on this one! I'm not a farmer of any sort but I always learn something about dairy farming when I watch your videos. Terrible tragedy about losing the cafe from eating plastic. I imagine the scraps of plastic are easy to miss on a large field if you weren't searching for them specifically.

Hi Adrian. Glad to hear that your calves are all recovered. I use Hexasol LA to treat all pneumonia cases and found it to work well. Had some bad summer pneumonia like you last year. I believe its cold and wet lush grass and weather that caused it. Ive buffered with some drier silage bales this back end and its been less of an issue. Thanks for another great video 👍

The good thing about cleaning out water troughs is that it gets rid of bacteria and moss from the drinkers so when the drinker is emptied, cleaner water usually comes out of the pipe to fill up the trough with clean water 💦.
