I prefer top mount, if you hold the entire quad (with the battery on) by the tip of one blade sideways, the top mount will hang straighter, almost perfectly straight, than a bottom mount, in most cases with typical "normal" builds. So the prop has better leverage over the weight of the craft. That gives it better weight distribution. But the fact is for many smaller "micro" class quads bottom mount is the only choice.

The VTX with the pins is totally fine IMHO - the A65 has the predecessor of this board (without SPI RX) and I have been flying this thing for over a year now - and everything is still holding up fine. IMHO one of the best, most reliable 1S boards you can get.

Hey man this thing looks super sick! I'm new to FPV. I'm wondering if it's better to start on one of these before buying a bigger one?? And is this drone compatible with DJI goggles and remote?? How can I know if a drone is comptatible with DJI stuf?? Cheers mate!
@NickBurnsFPV3 жыл бұрын
DJI goggles are not natively compatible with this type of quad. We can make it compatible by adding a BDI adapter, analog receiver like rapidfire, and antenna like the trueRC or Axii. So that is an additional expense, something you will have to weigh. It a quad isn't described or listed as HD with caddx vista or caddx air unit, then its analog requiring the above analoge adaption.

Just outside bugs. I could tell you exactly what bugs, but man they have been really howling this summer. I think its the heat, they tend to be more quite after a rain for a few days. The flight narration happens after the flight. I tend to fly 30-50 flights on each reviewed quad over 10days or 2 weeks and then pick a flight and narrate my experience while editing.
@rickdeckard75493 жыл бұрын
Cool kwad, probably wait for an upgraded version…if they had just lengthened the arms a bit and thrown 40mm props on it the thing would probably have flown great been more efficient for some of us flight time snobs ;). And been perfect…I’ve noticed generally you can gauge the efficiency directly (many factors considered) vice straight up battery size…ie: if you can squeeze a little over 3 minutes out of a 300, 4+ out of a 450, and the top end stretch…5 min out of a 550-650mah….then itS pretty min maxed for efficiency with motor/prop/battery combo….the kinda sketch Atom camera gives pause here though, it did not look that great in either condition BUT PERHAPS we should curb or expectations a tad, and we’ve been spoiled the last 2 years, but seems we have stalled a bit or maybe hit the edge of the physical envelope on the micro cams….
@NickBurnsFPV3 жыл бұрын
Yea the micro cams are so often about the weight and then some just want more image quality. The image quality costs us more weight.

Thoughts: Cute as heck! Looks like nice quality. Flies good . I do not like that it is only 1s. Too much battery sag and short flight times when limited to only 1s. Going to a bigger battery is only going to significantly reduce performance and handling. For me, I wouldn't buy it for that reason, and it's very expensive for a 1s. It's really a who0p without prop guards, so $120 with a D8 receiver is spendy! (What's with the Chinese sources porking us for 139 bucks?) 😔 Flies just OK, mostly because it just doesn't have the punch that a 2s quad would provide. They should have made it use 40mm props, another real bummer. IMO, the camera is very dark. Not the greatest for sure. Lots of VTX fuzz and interference for Nick sitting only a matter of several feet away. I think I'd rather take my mobula7 and convert it to no prop guards with a better frame. Then I'll get 2s performance, which will be a significant improvement ...HUGE! This is cute, but quite frankly, it's not for me in several ways. I'll build my own or wait until a much better designed 2s comes out. Thanks Nick for your typical stellar review!! 😎🤘
