Chauhan Kritarth Search for climbing gyms in your area, you may find some. :) Many have a section with very tall walls where you climb roped in, and shorter walls for bouldering like they're doing here. All levels of difficulty. It's best to start when you are young! (But waiting to be an adult is also not too late, for sure.)

So we want bouldering to go to the Olympics and yet, years after years, events after events IFSC seems to be unable to broadcast it in a decent way: terrible commentator, lots of technical issues (battery low, replace battery... WTF?!), the scores are never correct, the clock is just random, that's a Go Pro event and we might have had 15'' of Go Pro views, ...

+LMmc Jomns well i came here dfrom an article on the problem setters who desugned the tricks in the course, the wealth of interesting aspects to this sport and its sheer watchability, weve all climbed stuff havent we??? i used to boulder before motrocycles took over when i moved somewhere flat/.... still did but then they got rid of the wall, which was abit crap in any case, havent done it since.... but it was very interesting reading the arguments between the designers of this particular wall,,,if they are in the video they are the ones looking smug when people fall off. Its a terrible shame that all the effort they seemed to put in designing these climbs to be camera friendly and fiendiahly trickey for the climbers? arent filmed quite so professionally , and be fair on the presenter , he appears to be having to direct at the same time.
@deadprivacy9 жыл бұрын
+deadprivacy the worst thing is the camera men do not appear to be climbers,,,,,i cant see the next hold the cameramen are focused on the climber only ,,,it cuts off your sense of being in the moment,,,you cant see what the climber is looking at.. thers no perception of make it not makeit....cos you cant see

I have no clue why so many people were so toxic on the chat for this particular event even though it certainly was one of my all time favorites. I think the boulders were awesome, the crowd was very nice and the competition was fierce! Too bad for Juliana not qualifying and Alex's injury, what a bummer.

If they are going to have special guest commentator they can at least get one that will do the job properly. Just listening to her reminds me more of a spectator. She just wants to root for the home team. She gets so excited when a USA member gets ready to climb and then she goes flat with everyone else. I love watching and you can see there progression they are having and it keeps getting better with every year but they really need to get better commentators .

These commentators are unbearably bad at their jobs. The fact that they were incorrect not once but twice about climbers flashing M1 and F1 is embarrassing. There are two announcers and a maximum of two climbers at a time, with each climb lasting twenty to sixty seconds. How could they possibly not realize they flashed the route? neither of them were paying attention to the only two things happening in the entire event for over a full minute? What is the purpose of commentators if they don't provide any sort of useful commentary on the current climb or the climbers? There were a lot of interesting approaches taken on the crack in M1, and as far as I've seen (I'm only at 57:20 thus far), pushing up from the bottom at the crack and putting pressure on the right foot hold has proved a very solid technique for transitioning to that right-hand grab. It would have been great to hear them talk about these different techniques instead of very generic, broad descriptions about static and dynamic movements. Of course taking your time is a valuable. Hearing that comment ten times isn't enriching the finals experience. They also don't seem to know much about the prior experience of the competitors, or at least not enough of an idea to matter. There were far too many comments that had "Maybe" in them for a world-cup event. The male announcer made a comment about keeping a notebook of information on each person. I've heard him in two events now (and he forgot just as much stuff and got just as many things wrong in that broadcast as well), and, given the quality of the commentating, I'd say that would be a great good idea. Really, just pay attention to what is currently happening, make route comparisons during each climb and point out possible variations or inefficient solutions (this is what I really want), and pepper it with an interesting note or two about each climber's past that you are certain is accurate (the comment about owning a gym was good, do more of that). It really isn't that difficult to pay attention and talk about what you see, especially when you have the opportunity to commentate on multiple climbing events in a row as the male has. You should have enough experience at that point and have done some research that will allow you to provide relevant commentary on what is currently on the screen. Hopefully things will get better, but I doubt it. As someone mentioned below, everything just needs to be more professional. There are discrepancies in timing (bringing climbers on-stage while they aren't through introducing them on-screen, inability to show the correct time on the clock), stat issues, et cetera. This could be really awesome and I think you guys are getting there, but you need to kick it up a notch. At least the bouldering is exceptionally fun to watch. EDIT: 1:51:37 Really? You aren't going to do your job because you are scared that you'll jinx them? You are finally talking about what is happening on the route, potential problems in the climber's movements, and you decide against it for fear of jinxing them? Maybe I'm being unnecessarily harsh at this point, but the commentary has just been so poor that I'm becoming hypercritical now at each misstep.

Why can they never get their act together with graphics/leaderboards/the timer/the internet? Also, why don't they get two people who know about climbing doing the commentary?? The guy just adds a lot of confusion to the mix. He also points out the beautiful scenery of Vail at the worst points and ends up sounding like he's perving over the female competitors. Its a fantastic competition with really interesting problems and amazing sportsmanship throughout, but its so frustrating to see that the broadcasting of these great competitions is still not as good as it could and perhaps should be.

Are rock climbers and boulders ripped or just muscular or neither ?
@reclhoss9 жыл бұрын
Henryonsteroids They are slender and strong where it matters. When I started climbing I was a 245lb 6'7 gym rat. I now average between 205 and 210. I have a lot less muscle mass in my upper arms but somehow I feel much stronger. The grip strength and core strength you get from climbing is better than anything you can get from a traditional workout routine. I'm not even a great climber, but I'll never waste money on a gym that doesn't have a climbing wall ever again.

@charlescleary28039 жыл бұрын
Acceptera they simply take in to account there height and the fact that women are slightly weaker at some aspects of climbing that being said some of the female climbers are extremely powerful but you'd be surprised how many outdoor routes are naturaly easier for men and vice versa. route setting is both a science and an art, it's not an easy thing to do that's for sure

Acceptera different body types. Generally women are more flexible, men are more powerful, especially in upper body. The routes are set separately to more appropriately challenge the men/women

I gave this a thumbs down, not because of the awesome competitors, but the quality of video. This is a sponsored event, yet it looks like it was shot by amateurs. From cutting off climbers at the worst possible moments to multiple butt shots, and graphics not matching up to what's going on to dirty lenses, I am amazed if anyone got paid for filming this. It's sad when the unmanned GoPro is doing the best job out of any camera guy. The very first thing my boyfriend and I noticed was the terrible commentators, extremely unprofessional, and half the time not even talking about what was going on with the present climbers on the wall. We ended up muting them, throwing some music over the top, and had better commentary going on between the two of us, haha. It also seemed as though they chose some random worker to put the graphics together, as the photo for each competitor was terribly photoshopped. Poor Adam looked like he had a clown wig on, and you could see pieces of the original background present in many photos. It was really frustrating to see blue screen at critical moments of athletes on their climbs, and being unable watch this competition without getting distracted by the extreme unprofessionalism that was this "camera crew." I just hope to everything in the world that you guys hire a qualified crew together for next year, otherwise we probably won't waste our time sitting through 3 hours of glitchy, terribly filmed, and exceptionally annoying commentary. If you need help finding a qualified crew, we work for multiple A/V companies that would be more than willing to do a much better job for you guys for next year. Just respond to this comment and I'll get back to you with a list of contacts.

As a native Coloradan I can honestly say that I am so glad that Vail is it's own little ecosystem that is not truly "Colorado" represented here. Rather it is mainly made up of transplants not indicative of a real Colorado spirit. To put it another way, this crowd sucks. If you want to see a real crowd, watch Innsbruck. That is much closer to what real Coloradans are like.
