"Remember, their entire goal is to make Humanity multiplanetary, and that is the goal" 😂 X to doubt. Starship is for launching 100+ ton military satellites and space weapons.... There's nothing on the barren dry cold radioactive desert of Mars where people would need to live underground. People will never colonize it permanently. It's a cover story. Starship is for more Starlink and encrypted military data links. And probably kinetic weapons, which will be feasible and cost effective now. SpaceX is the new NRO

Given musk's political views and declarations im of the opinion that now he's demonstrated the technology and feasability of reusable launchers, he can go crawl back under whatever rock he came out of and let others take over. The guy is a total sociopath and traitor to the country that took him in, no doubt he'll answer for his words and actions in the near future.

I worked at a surplus store in Winter Park, Florida. The boss scored a damaged heat tile that had been removed from a shuttle after a flight. Its like a piece of Styrofoam with the Magic Shell chocolate sauce that you pour on ice cream and it instantly hardens. Anyway, he put a torch to it, got it RED hot, took the flame away and immediately touched it. It was cool to the touch. It was amazing how quick it dissipated that heat.

Thank you for another excellent space video! It's so amazing that you have an actual heat shield tile from Starship... Loved the James Webb discussion at the end! It must be a great time to be an astronomer. One of the things I love about your videos is how you'll sometimes casually drop a term or phrase that sends me off on a diversion down a rabbit hole somewhere learning about something new. That's especially true of the deep dives, but it happens in the regular videos as well. This week it was the phrase "slosh baffles." What a fascinating subject! I'm still not sure just how they work, but the idea seems similar to the way a barrier reef protects a coastline from damaging waves.

7:43 - maybe NASA's footage is more from the side and it could easily be seen how the plume interacts with the first stage and maybe even get temperature calculations from the footage. So if someone ( lets say a company in country on another end of the world ) is making a similar rocket to Starship, that would be very valuable information. On SpaceX video you dont see very well what is actually happening on top of first stage at separation.

Awesome insight, especially with the potential slosh-baffle modifications to the Booster. Do the tiles float? Thanks!

I would be torn between preserving the tile and trying to burn it. Lol.

On the subject of military owned starships, has any one considered that Jared Isaacman may be the first person to own a private spaceship. Starship makes such concepts possible.

Great advertising on the heatshield tiles! I happily admit that I went to ebay after pausing the video, and now have a heat shield on the way to me. Both for my love/collection. But also to help my little niece stay interested in science and space

It is hard to really put a value on those ones from Ship 24. If for some reason there are a bunch more Starships that end up in the drink, they may not end up rare at all, but if not, they may be very rare indeed.

@MarcusHouse it is still the first booster into space and to attempt a boost back. Worth the 250ish for a 3/5 chunk to me.

@@MarcusHouse I m also getting the tooling necessary to build a stainless model of the booster and ship. So it'll go well with that

How come nobody talks about how fast that boost back flip was? It was so fast. It's freaking huge. I can't imagine that they meant for that thing to crank around immediately like it did. There had to be an error there. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think falcon boosters flip that fast. It was the first thing I thought as it was happening.

It's a shame that Dream Chaser are going to burn up the solar panels. It seems a waste. It would be good if they could remove them and just keep adding them to the space station. I mean they took all the effort to get them there so they might as well use them rather than destroy them.

The buying of property, building walls, and overall locking down of super easy public access at Boca Chica has had me wondering if this had to do with DOD months ago, but more specifically ITAR stuff. Possibility?
