I am a local in HONG KONG. I understand it all depends on one's budget. Yet I recommend to stay in regular hotel, but not Airbnb in some old buildings . The hotel usually has a nice environment with better cleaning . That is my advice for all travelers

Thank you SO much for your tips! Next time we will definitely opt for a hotel. We chose the Airbnb over a hotel for a specific reason, but actually did end up switching to a hotel during the trip (though nothing was actually wrong with the unit itself). We will explain more in our coming video!! :)

So great that you are showing HK. Mongkok not the glamorous side of the city but it does have a lot of character. The scaffoldings is not because they are poor, but bamboo is actually proven stronger than steel scaffoldings in a storm. And it's environmentally friendly and economic, best of both worlds. But it does take a special technique and skill to do so there are trained professionals to do it. That's what is used for renovations and building skyscrapers. Amazing to see!
@IfWeGoTo2 ай бұрын
That's why we chose to stay there initially!! We like the more local areas - better food, people like the tourists, and we want to just experience a little slice of life there! All great points about the bamboo - it seems very smart and sustainable to use!!

Hong Kong is one of my favourite cities in the world. Amazing architecture, food, geography, transport, convenience, modernity, history. It's pretty much got everything. I recommend you do two things. 1. Eat a steamed garoupa on lamma island at one of the seafood restaurants. Trust me, even if you don't like fish you'll like this. Rainbow restaurant is a classic 2. Hike up to the top of Braemar Hill, stand on the rock and enjoy the most epic 360 degree view of Hong Kong.

Some tips for your next visit: Spring: Always raining and very humid (sometimes 100% humidity) May 2024: whole month raining Summer: Best visibility and blue sky. You can take perfect photos but hot like hell, suggest bring one more T shirt for changing.Otherwise, the humid weather will easily make you become smelly. Autumn: Best temperature for visit and hiking. Winter: You won't even sweat, nice weather for city walk. Visibility may not good sometimes, no blue sky.

Welcome to HK !!! That's bamboo scaffolding, as the building is under renovation, workers really climb out and work on the outer wall, the net of it is to prevent objects fall down to the street during renovation. Using bamboo because its tough and strong nature while still flexible enough. It's a HK heritage. Eco friendly as well as they will be reused. Enjoy your time here ;)

Hk is my hometown, moved to uk. I rlly miss it! The train stations are known for like new, clean and safe so yeah! Seeing this honestly made my day. Hotels are usually cleaner than airbnb though.

The trains were great!! Yes, the Airbnb was not as good as a hotel, long sotry but we ended up moving mid trip! Will explain in our next Hong Kong video!

Interesting u guys chose that neighborhood to stay for the first time...

We usually prefer the more local neighborhoods!! Better food and people tend to appreciate tourists more... although in Hong Kong we found the more touristic areas to be a better experience overall!

I'm a local HK. Thanks for coming to HK. I do agree with other comments that staying at hotels is better. Also about the bamboo thing - it's the tyipcal construction style here, and yes workers do climb on it and work😂

Thank you for your warm welcome! You are correct, we definitely learned our lesson with the accommodations - we will explain more in our next HK video! lol

Hi!! Sorry for my delayed response!! The Philippines was the first country we ever visited, unfortunately it was long before we started making vlogs!! 😊 We have a few photos and video clips though! We had plans to go back last year, but had a family emergency. Hoping to make a trip out again soon!!

I am so happy that you guys love Hong Kong. Welcome! The bamboo stick you took on the building is actually a construction technique that Hong Kong uses a lot. There might be repair work on the building wall, covering it to prevent some tools from dropping on the road, and the sticks are for workers to walk on them.
