Legend states that when King Taksin, at the time Ayutthaya mandarin, led some troops to break the Burmese siege of Ayutthaya and arrived at this old temple at dawn, so the temple was then named Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun). After Ayutthaya fell after one-year siege, he led troops from Chanthaburi province to expel the occupied Burmese troops in Ayutthaya. Then he proclaimed himself King and moved the capital from Ayutthaya to Thonburi and built a royal palace adjacent to Wat Arun and this temple then became the Royal Temple within the Palace domain in line with Ayutthaya tradition. The same could be said about King Rama I when he moved the capital from Thonburi across the Chao Phraya River and built Emerald Buddha Temple within the Grand Palace. When Thonburi was still a distinct province before it was dissolved to form Bangkok metropolis about 50 years ago, Thonburi's symbol was Phra Prang (Stupa) of this temple.

In Thailand , we usually pay with ThaiPromtPay system (it's kind of cashless transctions for Thais) , so most of Thai people didn't carry a hard cash anymore.(or carry just a little)

On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, it's recommended to visit Chiang Mai. It's very good. I'm a Thai person. I recommend staying in the middle of the city. Chiang Mai has many temples and walking markets.

Recommended to visit the ancient city. It's a big museum. Architectural gathering across the country is in Samut Prakan. It is recommended to go in the morning (it's not too hot) because it takes 3-4 hours or a whole day to visit all over the place.

Isaan region has many attractions because it is the largest region in Thailand. If you want to bathe with elephants, you must go to Surin. If you like ancient sites, you must visit Buriram Province. But I highly recommend going to Nong Khai.

Just want to add something about the cab that doesn't carry the change. Nowaday, Thai people mostly make a payment via Bank Application(In Bangkok is almost 80% cashless society. Even in a small market you can pay with your phone.) So there're cases that taxi stop carry change or doesn't have enough change for you. But yeah there're scammed taxi too.😚

Oh that's crazy! We ran into a lot of places that require cash, but I think that is because we are tourists! Good to know though!! That's is very convenient for locals. Luckily after that mishap we were able to get one of our cards to connect to Grab, our bank was just being weird!

Pls be courtious and alert all times because in public areas such as transport sites,there will be pickpocketed around tieland.Also make sure y'all notice the traffic lights posts for crossing the streets in bkk because there will be two separate period of green light for allowing pedestrains to start crossing to opposite side of streets especially ones with at least thrèe lanes for vehicles.

Hello! Does the Grab app allow you to put a credit card in so that you can just pay using that? 2:10

Yes! When we originally tried it wasn’t allowing us to add ours, but we figured out that they’re using some sort of payment processing system that I guess a lot of US banks block? But we added a different card later and it works perfectly!

Dears , next time to go to airport or from airport please use Train. From airport to downtown. If Don Muang airport you use red line train If Suwanna bumi Airpod you use airport link train direct to MRt (Subway) or BTS (Sky train) It will be convenience and cheap

Oh that's really helpful information thank you. We couldn't figure out how to take the train from DMK to Chinatown effectively. Next time we will put a little more thought into it now that we know it's possible.
