This is so close honestly. I think it all comes down to the colors and height. I prefer the MAFEX in both categories and as someone who does figure photography the accessories for the MAFEX will be great props

Just got my Mafex one today to go with my SHF. Mafex obviously has more accessories. Figure wise, on the Mafex, I like the metallic look on the main body, the limbs bend at a greater degree, the hands swivel side to side, it has ankle rockers, and the wire placement is more accurate. The SHF is taller, the bronze look on the arms look better, it has more pronounced dirt, the head articulates back and forth, and qc wise the paint on the hands are applied better and the feet aren't wonky like my Mafex's. The bandlolier is too big on the SHF but the silver paint on the Mafex's bandolier is sloppily applied. Very close. Cannot go wrong with either.

Great video! Having watched yours and Robo's I think the Mafex is my favorite as it is a bit smaller and comes with those extra accessories. Now I only have to find one.

I've been torn between the Figuarts and the Mafex one for a while. They both look AMAZING, but with the price point of each, I only wanted to pick one. I was able to fit the Black Series IG-11 onto the bike to help fudge the scale, but after seeing the Mafex one on there, I think that may be the one I pickup! Thanks for the review, great video as usual!

I don't have either of these IG-11 figures, they both look great. Much better than the black series IG-11 and IG-88. A couple of figures the black series needs to remake in proper scaled just like R2-D2. I think both versions of IG-11 have features in their favor but without having them in hand I can't make an informed decision. Thanks for sharing this video with us Luke. Take care, Tom

Thanks for the comparison! It helped seeing the MAFEX IG-11 on the Speeder Bike. It looks great! I have the SH Figurarts too (have it displayed next to Mando), but like you, found it a little large on the Speeder Bike. I have the MAFEX on pre-order and am glad I do!

They both compliment each other. The Mafex fits the Black Series Speeder Bike PERFECTLY, which is the only reason I wanted it. The SHF has great shelf presence & scales great with the other SHF & BS Mando figures. Having both is the best of both worlds.

I like the color palette and paint apps better on the SH. Plus it has the additional articulation point so you can tilt the head to look up and down. Mafex wins for overall articulation and accessories but for me I’ll be displaying SH and turning Mafex into IG-88

Luke I hope you don’t mind multiple posts to your videos - I realized I watch them and post, watch the, again a few months later and post again, rinse and repeat. At least now I realize I’m doing it! :-) Anyway, have finally decided to love both my Figuarts and Mafex IG-11’s equally, like twins, as it doesn’t have to be either or, and they can BOTH be favorites! ;-) I recall being initially disappointed with some of the paint ops on Figuarts; specifically his thigh covers which on mine looked almost unpainted, like naked plastic of a light grey or grayish white color. I painted mine silver/nickel just days after getting it with some black scorch marks and looks awesome. Then I noticed in Mando Season 3 that the thigh covers look exactly like the Figuarts ones (the scene where IG-11 (IG-12?) walks y]up to the street vendor so Baby Grogu can steal some nummies and a fruit drink, the covers are especially visible and plain light grey or whatever color that is!). But not tempted to remove my paintwork, and I do,prefer the bronzer/coppery colors of Figuarts shoulders, etc to the more traditional gold of Mafex. I like how you suggested one could be IG-88, and for this I think hands down Figuarts is more IG-88 as I picture him to be bigger than IG-11. Not sure I’ll paint over his coppery shoulders or pint him mostly gunmetal grey and black (is this even the proper IG-88 color scheme? Colors in Star Wars have always been a huge hit/miss given the camera and film tweaks, like a certain Uber-well known Hoth Han Coat blue-or-brown debate. In any case, size alone to me gives Figuarts a leg up for IG-88, though I realized that IG-11 in the Mandalorian does NOT have a set size! Watch closely and his height is ALWAYS changing, Season 1 and Season 3 both! It’s really noticeable in his first scene where he and Mando team up to fight the aliens holding Baby Yoda- erm, the Bounty. Outside he seems very tall. When they bust the door down and are walking side by side suddenly IG-11 is much shorter compared to Mando directly beside him! And the when they are standing side by side before a baby Yoad’s pram, IG-11 is even shorter!!! I think they had tried to fudge this a bit in Season 3 when the brainless IG-12 enters Greef Targa’s office and his head cone is seen sliding down over his “neck” which is then completely hidden inside the head cone! His overall height seems shorter and when walking outside beside Mando he once again seems shorter. I suppose it could be implied his hydraulic body can “compress” his legs and arms and torso in addition to his neck. But still not to the point that Hasbro’s pathetic and wilted and underscaled lame attempt at an IG-88 much less IG-11. Since it only took them 10 years to make a properly scaled R2-D2 and he’s a major character, I guess we can hope for a new properly scaled 88 and 11 sometime before the next ice age. Speaking of that awesome new R2, any chance you’ll get him (and/or R5-D4) early from one of your contacts? Your one thumbnail had me fooled that you already had them but then realized it was Photoshop trickery! :-) Oh one last comment/question : Are Mafex IG-11’s feet pods die cast metal?? I can’t tell for sure but by the Executioner’s Bounty I swear they very could well be! :-) Great vid as always, and have an excellent day sir (and here’s to IG-11 with his memory and (good) personality recovered and playing a regular game of in Season 4 of Mando as a regular!!!

I couldn’t get sh Figuarts when it came out, so when the Mafex version came out I preordered it instantly!! And it is a very cool Ig-11 !! and the baby yoda isn’t too bad.

I prefer the Mafex. Got it from HLJ. I love pretty much everything about it. The proportions, sculpt and paint do it for me. Either way, they both are way better than tbs

I didn’t think Mafex would ever ship! I’ve had it on preorder for over a year I think, and hope since you have your mine will ship soon! I have had the Figuarts IG-11 since he came out and LOVE this figure! Both of them compared to the Hasbro effort show how ridiculously pathetic and lame and half a$$ed whoever did that POS was at their job and Hasbro should trash the mold and pretend it never happened and make anew Black Series in proper SCALE (something the sculptor of IG-11 and R2D2 absolutely ignored or just did not have the skill to pull off which is inexcusable! The one thing I didn’t like about the Figuarts IG-11 was the total lack of paints on parts (and it’s like that on all the ones I’ve seen). Talking primarily about his thigh covers and neck, which I painted I think the 2nd day I had him, looks 100x better, and glad to see Mafex didn’t make the same odd choice. I thought Mafex would be slightly smaller than it is, but again LOVING what I see! I think Figuarts will become my IG-88 for any Bounty Hunters line up. And again, Hasbro, WTf? I mean seriously, they have got to know how bad some of their figure are, and they are looonnng overdue a new IG-11/88 figure (their VC version is amazing, why they can’t do that in 6” I’ll never understand) and especially a new Astromech sculpt and R2 specifically, getting it only the scale correct this time, but also his proportions and shape and details. You can hold a Figuarts R2 up to any picture or frame from the movies scaled to match and the Figuarts R2 is absolutely perfect! Try that with the black series and the body is too short, the legs too thin, the dome head isn’t even the right shape…it’s just embarrassing, and not an issue of cost, it was just laziness or sheer incompetence to start with. Yes, I will slam whoever did it because I could do a better job. And IG-88, they didn’t apparently realize he was standing behind the other bounty hunters and down a couple steps as well! They didn’t even realize Bossk was standing in front of the others and made him too big w too short arms! Arghh! It absolutely infuriates me that such laziness incompetence had the job to make those figures when any fan could have pointed out how wrong they got it and prevented such embarrassment for Hasbro. Thanks fully Figuarts and Mafex rock, and they are well worth the cost because you absolutely get the quality you pay for!

I like the scale and the articulation on the MAFEX more. Fun accessories, too. The Figuarts looks a bit better but I don't think that is enough to take the cake here.

I can’t believe I didn’t realize the Mafex IG-11 head articulation is nearly the same as Figuarts! The past 7 months I totally thought Mafex skimped and 11’s eyes and the “tube” directly above his eyes were on one piece that rotates together. I noticed - literally yesterday - on the box that there are a couple photos that do show the tube rotated in different directions from the eyes just as Figuarts IG-11 can do. And as it clearly does move on it’s own in the series I figured Mafex wouldn’t ignore this…so I gently, then firmly tried twisting the head bands independently and - thought I broke his eyes off! Luckily they just pop out of a slot on his head. Finally I used my thumbnail and sort of forced it between the “lip” of the eye band section that comes up and slightly over the tube band - and lo and behold they absolutely are separate bands that move independently just like Figuarts (but stiffer!). I think the paint is the reason it seems fused together as one big rotating band, but they absolutely come apart, and the eye pop right back in their slot (which I’d recommend removing gently before you try forcing the bands apart, or just use my thumbnail trick or maybe a tiny rubber spatula tool or some such). Anyway, just an FYI as this was really the main/only disappointment I had with the Mafex IG-11 and now that I realize it’s not even an issue,I love Mafex IG-11 even more!!!

I freeze-framed the video where you had all three IG-11 figs lined up and it's almost comical how unbelievably pathetic the Black Series version is! I've been tempted to get the Mafex version as it's smaller than the too-big SHF and has all the extra accessories. Found one for less than $100, which would seem to be a bargain, but it's holiday time and money's tight enough as it is, so it'll have to wait for now.

Trust me, when you do get one it’ll be worth it. I managed to find one for $80 recently, and once it got here it was just a joy to have a proper figure of IG-11. Even though the lack of a neck up/down hinge like Figuarts has is unfortunate I’d say he was well worth the price.

@@JeffDJ69 I definitely recommend it. He's a fantastic figure and scales perfectly next to Black series figures.. Even his Grogu-in-a-bag's head is about the same size as the Black Series figure. I have him proudly standing with Kuill, Cara Dune, and Mando on my shelf wearing said bag. The one issue with him is his weapon hands, their grip is pretty darn pathetic so you'll want to wedge something between the blaster handle and the inner hand so he has a firm grip. I used a trimmed Twist Tie with the wire removed, but you could easily use folded paper, or a small piece of foam, rubber, or plastic for the same job. All depends on what you have available.
