@@IGCSESUCCESS hi, I have a doubt, I searched Google for the past year paper for english first language igcse, and it says Paper 1- Core Paper 2- Extended Paper 3- Extended So I'm a little doubtful on what are the papers I'm going to take for my IGCSE, can you explain to me what are the papers that I will be taking as an English 1st language student

@@youhavehope6776 Hello! You want to check out the syllabus for the year you are going to be examined. There are only two papers now (paper 1 and paper 2) Paper 1 is the reading; paper 2 the writing (Directed Writing and Composition)... However, some schools choose to do paper 1 and coursework (so just 1 written paper!) Best to ask your school... There is no core paper option anymore. All the best

here is my response 21st April 21, 2022 Do you know what’s challenging when you are young? Trying to balance life with school. Well, the problem is it’s not easy for me to think of ways to manage myself, because the school never lets me. Whenever I try to make a study schedule; my teachers throw tests on our faces. Do I feel assured about my exams? Not at all. My sweat is turning into tears. Even though I am doing my best, my teachers and parents have been burdening me to ‘put more effort’; they just want me to bite the bullet. Sometimes I just think: Are they aware of everything we go through? All they say is ‘you just wasted your time playing video games, you could have done better!’ One thing I know for sure is that it is over the capacity of my brain and body. I don’t really know what to expect from myself now. The homework that teachers give is just piece of a cake but when it comes to exams, its just tough row to hoe. Parents just say: ‘study hard, you have to ace this time’, but they don’t know what it takes to study hard; we sacrifice or nights, meals, and video games for it. I know they are not wrong, but they don’t know that its not possible to be a champion in everything. Even after giving thousands of tests, my grade is going to be decided by one exam. Isn’t that ridiculous?

in many journals I've seen the dates being written after every paragraph so is it fine to just write the date once at the beginning only and write the whole journal in one paragraph? PS. such a great video, thank you :)
@IGCSESUCCESS3 жыл бұрын
You aren't expected to include a date. I guess you could if you were given that information, but you certainly wouldn't lose marks for it. Yes, you could include a date after each paragraph if you were treating them as separate journal entries... But that is never the task. It is to write one.

Do you know how infuriating the seemingly 'world class' school systems are? There's constant undermining of student's efforts. And not only is our education system is responsible for this, but as well as our society. They sure do a wonderful job at pressurizing students to work so hard that they forget to sleep, have food and have enough water. Because nobody has the 'time' for that, do they? The acrimony amongst students never fails to grow. The amount of rigidity in school life is nobody's concern except the victims. I am absolutely exhausted with my teachers telling me to 'work harder' because my grades aren't good enough, and our parents aren't any better. If we get anything less than an A+, what good are we for? All my attemptss feel futile especially when I hear well my older siblings did when they were my age. But have they forgotten that almost than half of their grades were based on homework. But for us our entire understanding of the syllabus is demonstrated by one test. And students who don't do well will always be marginalized. I don't even feel remotely prepared for the test even if I have sacrificed my own wellbeing. Nothing I do seems to satisfy anyone, and I am left feeling useless, and oppressed by the 'perfect system'. No student deserve the success of their life be demonstrated by one paper, instead we should implement coursework again as a leading factor of the decision of our grades.

My answer: I don't wan't to be young, I wan't to be old, working towards something I actually enjoy. Why won't they understand? My family keeps on praising me for good grades and once I fail, the smile on their face is gone: I'm suddenly an inanimate object to them. Teachers, constantly slithering in into our life, trying to take control of everything by giving us bundles of paper everyday and telling us to 'take care of ourselves'. Blimely, says the person who expects me to complete their 60-page essay, 50 page reading assignment and a 30 slide powerpoint presentation. While the flock their way accross the room, happy, energised and focused. Doesn't satisfaction go both ways? For all I've known, most of my days are spent exercising my damn hand so much that it turns red, laying on my desk, begging for help as I try to complete my work and my teachers dare tell me I'm not working hard enough? The past was fun, atleast from what I have heard: tales of my mom disecting frogs and travelling to different places; schools giving students the option to tinker with their subject while I'm just here, sitting, revising, right now for the one test that'll determine my life. Yes the life I have a right to control! This one exam is seemingly more important than what I'm actually supposed to learn? Does that make sense?
