The addition of the Samba elements on Chaos AD was a marked step as the band started pivoting towards their Roots. I remember when this first came out, it kind of confused us because it started to sound so different compared to the historical Death/Trash that we were used to from Sepultura. However, I remember listening to this album almost every day, and after seeing the band again live again they played this new stuff: it hit me and I internalized how awesome this new element was.

It was never the same, it's true. But that being said, their latest album, Quadra, is absolutely brillant in my opinion. One of the best metal album released that year. And the previous one is also great (Machine Messiah).

Man i cant believe to this day i could just type a message to you that you could read!! Your playing Mr Cavalera, inspired me so much right from the start, its awesome to see you still thrash the shit outta your kit, i was like 13 when i watched live in barcelona and heared beneth the remains and arise. now i am 40 yrs old and it still carries all the enjoyment it did back then. Hearing those songs recorded is so much better than today, when you had to play it good from start to finish, nowadays you can punch in whatever or dont evwen have to really be able to play it, its all gone fake. but whaqt you did, and what inspired me to record and what i ended up doing was having to play it good all in one shot, or maybe if the money was there, the best of maybe three tracks, and the best went on the album. Thank you for all the inspiration. I am enjoying the episodes and look forward to the next one!!!!

Then, a miracle happened...Sepultura was opening for Pantera on tour for the Chaos A.D. and Far Beyond Driven albums when I happened to win BACKSTAGE TICKETS for a meet and greet with the bands. Chaos AD is still hands down one of the best metal albums of all time. The apex of classic Sepultura. This was the culmination of all of the hard work they did and no one else sounded like them on this album. Refuse/Resist….still relevant.
