If it wasn’t for us, white ppl wouldn’t have Rock & Roll, Country ( read this book My Country: The African Diaspora's Country Music Heritage."), R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, etc. We are the most innovative when it comes to music. The problem is that everyone wants to take from our culture but they don’t want to do s*it when it comes to ending systemic racism. They like their privilege. They stay making money off things we started and off our culture and then they go right back to participating in oppression. We’re sick of white ppl taking parts of our culture but wanting to keep their privilege and leave the rest. If you want to succeed in this genre, you need black folks to buy your music bc we are the main ones who support this genre financially. I like Iggy and I listen to her, but I’ll be honest, I do it on the DL bc my friends and family can’t stand her for all the reasons I named above. I don’t think she’s as talented as black women like Nikki and Cardi ( she’s Afro Latina), but she has real talent. She can’t dance worth sh*t, but she has bars and her music sounds nice to my ear. She won’t ever be Cardi B, Missy, Nikki, Lil Kim, etc bc black folks aren’t feeling her like that bc she takes what she wants from us, and sells it back to us while leaving all the hardships we face to us to deal with alone. Most black ppl aren’t going to support that, and in order to Become as big as someone like Nikki, you have to have the support of our community bc we are the ones keeping that genre afloat with our coins.

Iggy may not be the most talented of rappers but in most of her songs I notoice a reaccuring theme. Sure she talks about money and expensive things, like many other mainstream rappers do, but its the way she talks about it, like its always been her dream to be a successful and rich rapper. People can say whatever they want about her but her heart is in it. She's obviously went through a lot of shit just to be where she is right now and she dosen't seem like she's willing to give up any time soon. Though I don't consider myself much a fan of her (I'm more of a Azealia Banks listener) you can't deny that she puts all of herself into whatever she does. And thats admirable.
