I've always loved the guitars at the end of China Girl -- the sound is achingly beautiful -- and was always disappointed that I've never heard anyone talk else talk about them. So good to hear that the man himself agrees with me! And really interesting to hear that Bowie wrote the parts too -- I'd always assumed that Phil Palmer improvised it.

Nothing better than hearing one of the creators of these magnificent albums open up like this. Lou Reed, Bowie, Iggy Eno are my most loved solo artists ever. Geez, Lou wrote some of the greatest lyrics I've heard too and Iggy's lyrics are brilliantly raw and original.

I love The brilliant humor in some of lou's lyrics, like Sally can't dance
@dannymiles65032 жыл бұрын
@@belletollz Yes, lots of humour in Lou's lyrics, and then others of artistry as in the title track of Growing Up In Public, love that album. Some people are into sadistic pleasures, They whet their desires and drool in your ears. They're quasi-effeminate characters in love with oral gratification, They edify your integrities so they can play on your fears. Thanks for your thoughts, its always a good feeling to hear from other fans now that he's been gone so long

@@foosbooze263 I couldnt of said it any better than that Cody. Theres an iconic photo by Mick Rock i think thats got a wild and dangerous Iggy with a pkt of Lucky Strikes in his mouth with his arms around Lou and David on each side. Almost no one thought Iggy would be the last one standing, as he was still living full on in the fast lane. Lou and David, i remember David saying "Lou was a master, he gave us all the streets, the landscape for us all to create" Yes, Iggy and Eno, Wow! I love Iggy's new Every Loser album, thanks for your thoughts Cody mate.

He was, but I suppose I this case David was living out his own dream by convincing this Mercurial firebrand from Michigan to abandon the hell he was voluntarily trapped in at that time AKA Los Angeles, to join him on the final leg of his Station to Station tour and subsequently become his neighbor down the hall in Berlin. It was there that they bounced ideas off of one another, shared personal favorite musical selections, write together, record together, and influence one another, eventually yielding Iggy's first two solo albums and Bowies Berlin Trilogy. Remember, Iggy and fellow American underground icon Lou Reed inspired David's vastly successful Ziggy Stardust character and album. Bowie was fascinated by the rebellious abandon, confrontational attitude, and gritty DYI proto punk rock those two were punching out in the late 60s and early 70s in America. Bowie seized a mutually beneficial opportunity to kidnap Iggy from the US West Coast and remove him from the familiarity of that drug addled community that was sucking him dry, work with him in Europe, reap new material from the talented outcast, and put his personal stamp on it. Turned out pretty well for both of them. There was a definite humanitarian generosity there, but David had an end game too.

bro Ziggy carachter was way before iggy met bowie so how did he inspire him? and also bowie was way more stoner then iggy when he lived in La. Bowie said it was the most self destructive period of his life and decided to move to berlin to regain control. but again, it was long after ziggy era.
@markrago72175 жыл бұрын
@@spiritualcramp8000 so? Iggy was well known by then. Iggy was partial inspiration for Ziggy, hence the name. Lou Reed equally inspired him.
@spiritualcramp80005 жыл бұрын
you are a bit confused. iggy is talking about them working together how has this anything to do whit your post? as for what you say iggy 'inspired' david as he inspired thousands of artists and millions of people, by music, but this has nothing to do with mutual creative inspiration of two artist working together in the same studio, wich is the topic of this conversation.

@dannymiles6503 Жыл бұрын
@@ladnercr1 Yes theres no doubt that Bowie and Lou Reed's run of landmark 70s albums is close to unmatched for solo rock artists for their sheer quality and how many that made that benchmark for that decade. I saw the incredible Heroes/Isolar Tour in 78 when i was 18 and its remained the greatest show ever for me, all the setlist drew from his prior run of the Station, Low and Heroes albums with the Ziggy album's legendary songs as well. Lodger was so anticipated following that, his first full world tour, a groundbreaking album that, if he had included I Pray Ole, rather than leaving it off, it would of propelled Lodger to the heights it deserves. He and Eno i believe, thought it was too close to Red Sails.
