The Group was originally named "The Psychedelic Stooges".....The Iguanas were great 60s garage band. Iggy was a great drummer. The Iguanas went as a backing band on Michigan Top 40 group tours. Have a poster signed & sent to me by Mary Weiss. Gig is in Lake Orion, upper Michigan. The Iguanas backed up the Shanghai Las. Among others. He was recruited by the Erlewine Brothers Michael ( All Music Guide) & Dan ( master guitar builder / repair ),..to be the drummer in "The Prime Movers". They were the premier show band in A2. Blues unit. Great live group. That lead us to the start of the Stooges. Iggy's epiphany, seeing Jim Morrison. The barrel drums are something I'll never forget. Kudos on that. The MC5 & The Stooges ruled The Grande Ballroom. National & UK bands got blown off stage by them. We weren't into the Psychedelic West Coast doodling. If the music doesn't pound your head & and body, you're dead. Marshals on 10. Your ears rang for 3 days. We had Punk & "Metal" before they existed. Michigan is a peninsula & much of our great music was self-contained. Check out Bob Seger & Last Heard's singles on Hideout. It doesn't get any better than these 3 bands. So glad The Igster is keeping that period's continuation. Thanks for the great post, surprised I didn't get it earlier. Btw that trailer park is in Ypsilanti, home of Eastern Mich. U. 5 miles from A2. 60,000 college students packed together. Great scene late 60s. Spent a lot of time in Discount. They rocked. Everybody rocked. The Blues scene in A2 was fabulous, as well.

That’s right brother. You know your true facts. We was all led to this video for a reason. I’m 26 now, but my great grandfather is still alive. I’m mixed, my great grandfather on my Hispanic side was a huge psychedelic’s fan. He’s 93 now. & has an old photo of him & iggy when they met somewhere in California during the 70’s. Right before “I’m bored” came out. He’s showed me a lot about “the doors” “Janis Joplin” “the creation” “Grateful Dead” etc. list goes on & on. I thank god he gave me his old music collection

Fantastic job. I was lucky enough to see The Stooges 4 times in Chicago in the late sixties and early seventies.. The first show we saw the The Stooges was the Chicago Pop Festival 12/29/69 at the Aragon Ballroom. I was 14 and had no idea who The Stooges were except hearing their name on the radio for shows they were performing in the Midwest. The name was very intriguing not sure what to expect. At some point during the show (we were about 30 rows back) we thought Iggy had fallen off the stage, we didn't find out till a couple days later when the Chicago Tribune did a write up on the festival that he had actually jumped into the crowd, Magical times for sure.

This was an awsome video! This is my home town ( I'm still here ). The "trailer park" Iggy grew up in, my grandparents lived there also. The park was in the stix as we we use to call it back when he was there. Not much was in that area but woods. Just like his old house where you said he filmed a video with his GF at the time. You did great research for this. I liked that you put an old picture of Discount records from back in the day. I use to hang out at that same store Iggy did. He was already a local legend by that time. (70's ). My Aunt who worked at the U of M knew Iggy. She said he was crazy! She's 7 years older than him. Also did not know he got a full scholar ship to go there. That's impressive. Anyway great to see you came to my town. Hope you are okay after eating WC. That location does not have the best reviews, myself included!! P.S. I watch you because you are very detailed in your video's. Keep up the great work! 🌹

One of the most interesting things about those first Stooges albums was the combination of proto-punk aggression and rawness and an almost psychedelic feel, kind of like early Alice Cooper. But of all his work, my favorite Iggy song will probably always be “Lust For Life”…
