@@aarondavid5866I won't spell it out for you here. But Kurt was leaving the band, going make different music, and divorce. With no "Nirvana" the drummer was already planning music ripped from Kurt's newer style, then he changed to mass rock. A prenup in place, she would get little if none but she had his "pound of flesh" for security. And D.Gef wouldn't have the enormous amount of money coming out of Nirvana. The out come was keep him addicted and the plan was set. All the "theatrics" in the days leading up to Kurt's demise were just a well planned out "act".

Was it on live from the muddy banks of the Wishka? I'm old, had it on tape but the more expensive CD had extra "rare" tracks and a track that played about 30 min after the last song but was not mentioned on the CD, record or tape. I can't remember if it was an instrumental, record companies used to make the album, CD and tapes slightly different so muso folk would buy all 3 versions. The cassette was cheapest then the record and the CD would cost £8 to £11 for a double album. There was a shop selling bootleg versions of all the CDs tapes etc that sold everything, I dunno how they managed to bootleg rare stuff as well as popular chart stuff but the covers were bad copies, the actual music was great compared to bootlegs from record fairs. The irony was they would print the "bootlegs are killing music" thing on the covers just like on the originals that had those stickers on. People were so naive many folks were duped thinking it was just a small indie record seller but they had shops in all the less reputable shopping centers across London 1990 to 1997 time. We used to get stuff we were going off from there and I bought the posthumous CD with the all black cover from there, I can't remember it's title as id gone off nirvana by 93, they were charging silly prices for everything by then and Curt even commented he'd become everything he had once rebelled against but I do remember watching unplugged live on MTV in The Geourge on TCRd up the west end and thinking he looks and sounds suicidal and got back into them as he wasn't acting the rock star diva , some channel said he was dope sick on that gig but you literally can't sit down when dope sick without extreme sweats stomach sickness and legs kicking out involuntarily so if he was he'd either gone for a few days without or he wasn't sick but had not had as much as usual however his eyes were very pinned , and even bright studio lights can't stop the massive pupil effect sickness gives people, but in the candle lit funeral parlor dark set he wouldn't have been pinned if he'd not used before playing. Those rumours about Courtney paying hitmen etc didn't even get a mention till long after the WWW became a thing , I think the first I heard was on a ten years anniversary of curts death someone made up the whole thing for a right wing tv show on conspiracy theories which originally got that theory disregarded then when they had been split long enough to become discovered by the millennial kids those kids who wished they had seen them live, I seen them 9 times, and most people I knew seen them at festivals, even folk who hated rock music but went to festivals anyway had seen them. They were so huge, Way bigger than Bieber or anyone since, even spice girls never achieved that much fame, and with megastardom comes mega theory, but I do think maybe someone who was jealous killed him, Courtney was checked out and her alibis were real but years later kids wanted someone to blame and like Yoko Ono got wrongfully blamed for Lennon's demise and murder so it was for Courtney. I don't like her but at the time she was devastated and angry at his fans for going to her tour and brandishing huge placards with kurdt on . I wonder if the kid with that banner actually thought it a good idea to wave a placard about with the father of her child's face on on her first tour after her husband died? I see both sides but that lass was really thoughtless. Imagine waving your grandad's pic around in front of your Grannie a year or 2 after he'd died? You just wouldn't be that cruel. It hurts even more to be a young widow as your not expecting your mid 20s hubby to die and I think conspiracy theories are 99% wrong. But I do think the industry killed him or people in it. Too many musicians die from drugs and if Curt owed drug money or had dissed a dealer the people selling narcotics at the time wouldn't have thought twice to make an example of a famous customer to scare their other customers. I think the armchair detective crue have been looking in entirely the wrong place.

Nirvana had success, but they were the “corporate version” of college radio that MTV execs decided to back. I’m not saying they weren’t talented. They were. But they were the safe bet. There was nothing “accidental” or “grass roots” about them. They were a calculated kid-friendly Pixies with colorful music videos and a handsome lead-singer, and they were played every hour on the hour to a group of hypnotized 11 year-olds back before the internet transfixed us all. If you can’t see this, I’m sorry…. Even Cobain realized it, and yet he went along with it… Those “exec-types” made a lot of money off of him-as Jiffy* Pop explained quite profoundly and boldly in this video-and those same “music execs” continue to make a lot of money off of him now. And never forget: dead musicians are worth a lot more than living ones, especially when they get memorialized in the 27 Club. Just ask Hendrix, Joplin, and Morrison, etc. Who’s to say Kurt Cobain wasn’t always (and still isn’t) their angsty and profitable puppet? Who’s to say he’s not in the Overlook Hotel at this very moment stuck in eternal-recurrence singing some version of “forever and ever and ever” in perpetuity? No…. I got it wrong…. I’m with him now, annd you’re here, too… and I can hear him. He’s singing “You dreamed of a big star/He played a mean guitar/He always ate in the Steak Bar/He loved to drive in his Jaguar…” Do you know the song? I think you do… Yes, with the lights out, it’s less dangerous…. Here we are now…. Entertain us.

Nirvana was one part Pixies, one part Wipers, one part Screaming Trees, one part Mudhoney. The ingredients weren't original but the result was satisfying, in the way a chocolate cake is satisfying (but ultimately empty calories). You are absolutely right that they were the "corporate-friendly" version of alternative rock and their breakthrough was the beginning of the end of the indie scene, which sucks. And yes, Kurt's pretty face had a lot to do with their success too.

It often doesn't work if two singers collaborate - they end up treading on each other's toes. Now, a singer and someone who's exclusively an instrumentalist, yeah that can work much better :) There are some exceptions - such as Bowie and Lennon with the song "Fame", or Bowie and Queen with "Under Pressure", but in both cases, that was pretty much the only track they did.

There’s an art to it - MacCartney did it well, Petty and Nicks did too, but could two intense unpredictable performers like Cobajn and Iggy have navigated the subtleties of an ongoing collaboration. On stage ripping through an old favourite they could have done of course, but wouldn’t it have been cool if they could have spent time on recording together, maybe writing songs, finding. harmonies and making a new sound. Iggy and Kate Pearson’s Candy showed what Iggy could do in a due, particularly his songwriting and the song does something really special extremely well. It sits alongside Stop Dragging My Heart Around (Nicks and Petty) as an all time great duet but has a great rock and roll edge: Kate Pearson and Iggy’s voices are key to this, and probably the long experience as musicians. . If Cobajn could have channeled some of his softer entry, who knows, maybe they could have done it.

Nietzsche talks about the three stages of the soul. Young people are camels, taking on the weight of the world saying, look how strong I am. Then comes the Lion, who reclaims that weight and turns passions into virtues. Then in old age the final stage becomes the child who is innocent when all the passions have become virtues and all devils, angels. Kurt never got to progress very far, thinking he was still very much a camel.

He was a big guy with a big beard and kids were intimidated by him, so the brave ones might write Iggy ! on the chalk board between classes to set him off, but few had the guts to razz him to his face. I personally never cared for Iggy, I was into Nugent, Trower, Van Halen, Sabbath ect and Iggy seemed like a sick joke compared to guys like that ,, And when I heard he liked to throw up on the crowd, I made it a point never to see him, not that I would have anyways ,,, Oh I take that back, I did see him once kinda, he was warming up for the Rolling Stones of all bands around 1980 or so, I guess they thought local Detroit guy at a Detroit show would do well, but he didn't. He got boo'ed off the stage and only played 15 minutes or so, practically no one who liked the Stones liked Iggy. The only song of his I can remember is 5 ft 1, that got a little radio play. [I saw an interview some time back and Iggy said yes, his dad was highly embarrassed of his son, but apparently they reconciled in later years, which is always a good thing]

Iggy & Kurt would sound like Nirvana but with lyrics you could understand? It would have been good.

This is garbage talk. Nobody "has to die" in a similar situation to Cobain's.

I'm pretty sure Iggy would know more about this then you would unless you were there this guy has been in the business for ever so maybe take that into consideration I've been researching these claims for many many years and the music industry is so evil and money has always been their focus just look up the evil stuff that's being done to these young people in the industry and now their all coming out with the whole truth about the sick thing that goes on in Hollywood

Honestly the possibilites would have been endless. Kurt didn't really colaborate very much if not at all, and putting both of them together would have been like nuclear fision.

Aside from some of the Stooges stuff & “Lust for Life” & maybe “It’s a Perfect Day” I never really “got” Iggy Pop…his music at least ,as a front man he was peerless

Apparently Kurt was mortified that he just happened to be wearing a Stooges shirt the first time he met Iggy, he said he felt " so fucking uncool" (I'm paraphrasing)

Metallic KO was a joke, I bought it from 99cents bin back in 1977, it wasn’t worth 99 cents. Iggy got much better after MKO
@AveragePicker7 ай бұрын
Got much better? They had already released The Stooges, Fun House, and Raw Power by then. Metallic KO is half of a set recorded live. The levels aren't great but there isn't a whole lot of live iggy from back that far so it's a great archive.

Kurt godfather of grunge? Come on! I love kurt and he sure was a prominent figure of grunge movement (im sure he hated that term) but been a godfahter in music means that you are way ahead of everybody in music styles, so much that you are pioner of a music genere that does not even have a formal name or definition yet, like iggy with punk music or james brown with the soul. As far as is know, Neil young was called the godfather of grunge numerous time...

These studios have "non performance clauses" & some more over these artists. Sometimes one can become more valuable dead than alive.
