We cover settlements, crafting, mods, and more in this tips video. Fallout 4 is a massive game, deep with systems and mechanics that directly affect how easy it is to survive the post apocalypse. It’s still considered a terrible game. Poor gameplay and graphics. Non existent story/RP. It was most liked at launch. But most players never actually finished the main quest line. Just such a bland boring experience. Fo4 is only fun with mods.

Base clothing that goes under armor is also really handy to get used to for two reasons. One, a fair number of such clothing options (like military fatigues) can improve your stats. Second, once you get your hands on ballistic weave, you can modify that clothing to be pretty much as protective as normal armor, and as far as I'm aware, it stacks with any augmented armor you're wearing on top for maximum protection.

You should also have at least 1 point in the scrapper perk. Looting weapons and armor over-encumber you really fast, while crafting materials weigh next to nothing in comparison. However, you are throwing away caps if you scrap gear without this perk.

If you get trade routes going, your stored workbench inventory can be accessed from any settlement's workbench along the trade routes.

This game received so much criticism in its first year, but when you take into consideration all other modern open world games after this year, fallout 4 is arguably one of the best. So much replay ability, the shooting and looting mechanics are amazing, plenty of cool characters, great dlc and far harbor does a ton story wise if you didn’t like the main story, plus the crafting and settlement building offers infinite creative potential. There are downgrades on dialogue, but there are so many unique places to visit on the map, quests, and the overall lore in the game is still great.

If you max out your settlement "size" you can go find a bunch of weapons and junk and bring them back and scrap them inside that settlement and it will think you scrapped pieces of the settlement and allow you to build more things!

2:30 If you play on survival mode, where you only get three rolling autosaves, when you get to this point, even if you're other wise happy with your build, make sure you change your name. This will start a new set of saves and leave your old save just before you get to the elevator intact. If you want to try another build you can go back to that save and make the changes you want rather than starting from scratch.

You can scap weapons at the weapons bench and armor from the armor bench everyone seems to miss that imho it is quicker then dropping and using the settlement system to scrap.

It didn’t “capture the tone” on purpose. Each Fallout has its own tone by design. The main story was better in 3 than 4, but Fallout 4 was better in literally every other way though.😂

Always remove your fusion core from any power armor you store/ stash away. If there is a workshop nearby you can store it there.

Correction: Recycling the structures will deposit any items inside containers into your workbench. So no need to really loot the place when you can just go through in build mode and recycle

You will also find Work Stations all around the Commonwealth, not connected to the settlement system, that you can use for temporary storage of all the weight dragging you down.

Manual shooting is better than vats most of the time but you still want to use vats so you can bank a critical for those dangerous moments where you need to do alot of damage and it guarantees a hit.

Workshop areas are not all connected unless you assign an NPC as a trader connection to it. Establish a central hub you like and then when you find new workshops, assign an NPC there as a trade connection

Build armed/armored sentry bots to send out as provisioners. Very tough, and leaves more NPC's to work settlements.

In Vanilla, you have to supply all the ammo for any weapon you give to your Companions, assuming you select it for them to use, instead of just carrying it for you.

Fallout 4 creates save files by characters name, you actually dont need to do what IGN says. If you create multiple characters, you can boot up by the character name

No. If you don't drain it dry you can sell low charge fusion cores for a decent price to any trader. Apparently, traders have a way to recharge them, but we never see that in action.

It's embarrassing that the week the Fallout tv show is released is the same frame of time the most recent game patch makes the game you're featuring unplayable. Most important tip. Without mods the game is a 5, with Far Harbor a 8 at best. With mods can be easily a 10.
