Sims 3 was the right direction, despite how poorly optimized it became with later installments. As well as pc requirements being higher at the time compared to the previous games. Inzoi is going to end the Sims franchise, since it's pretty much what the fanbase expected/wanted the Sims 4 to be from the beginning.
