Extraordinary. Excellently performed. Leopold and Amadeus Mozart gave piano lessons to their students, using the music of Lucchese. The problem with Amadeus and J. Haydn is they are not didn't have the right adequate academic musical education. This is best seen in the example, Johan Gotlib Nauman, which was considered a musical icon at the time. Neuman - in Dresden, he was taught by the organist and cantor of the Kreuzschule, Gottfried August Homilius, a student of J.S. Bach. From 1759 to 1763, Nauman studied with Giuseppe Tartini in Padua, with Giovanni Battista Martini in Bologna, and with Johann Adolf Hasse in Venice.

Sono contento per questa pubblicazione, essendo ammiratore di Andrea Luchesi, ma... questa bellissima Sinfonia in Do maggiore - che Pau NG ha in buonafede intestato ad Andrea Luchesi sulle basi del CD ERRESSE con esecuzioni di Agostino Granzotto - non appartiene al corpus del compositore veneto, bensì ad Ignaz Pleyel (1757-1831), catalogata come BEN P 131a nel catalogo Benton, e risale al periodo 1783-86. La sinfonia in questione fu concepita in tre movimenti senza minuetto (BEN P 131); la BEN P 131a è la sua seconda versione con minuetto aggiunto e strumentale aumentato. Esiste poi BEN P 131b, mai eseguita in tempi moderni, che contiene in parte movimenti nuovi. Per la cronaca aggiungo che sulla rete circola un'altra Sinfonia in Re maggiore di Ignaz Pleyel (BEN P 124) in quattro movimenti, ma attribuita ad Andrea Luchesi: in questo caso si tratta di una situazione più complicata, in quanto sembra esista un manoscritto (che però non è mai stato esibito alla comunità scientifica dal suo proprietario attuale) della stessa opera a nome di Luchesi. La stessa Sinfonia in Do maggiore, correttamente attribuita a Pleyel, l'ho pubblicata non molto tempo fa sul mio piccolo e modesto canale. Le altre due composizioni di Luchesi sul CD ERRESSE di Agostino Granzotto, Sinfonia in Si bemolle maggiore (1767ca.) e Concerto in Fa maggiore per clavicembalo invece sono genuine. Ottima precisazione... stavo andando nel panico, perché, effettivamente, questa Sinfonia è nello stile di Pleyel ed è una di quelle che mi mancano. Luchesi appare più ancorato agli stilemi del passato

@@paoloperrelli3226 Più che ancorato a schemi del passato, che può sicuramente esser vero in alcune composizioni del periodo veneziano, direi che Luchesi dati alla mano abbia dato il meglio nelle composizione religiose, dove talvolta trova soluzioni più vicine ai compositori più giovani di lui. Di certo seppe fondere, senza particolari fratture della forma, lo stile veneziano con quello austro-tedesco, con validi risultati. Quanto alla Sinfonia qui pubblicata, ad oggi l'unica registrazione disponibile è questa, attribuita a Luchesi dalla casa discografica.

Ya lo puedes decir! Tenía dudas de su autoría cuando edité el video y más partiendo de la base de las otras sinfonías de Luchesi... Pleyel es una 'bestia' en el genéro sinfónico! Saludos 😉

​@Reciclassicat bisogna anche dire che le sinfonie reali di Luchesi sono del 1767 circa, e sono simili alle sue ouverture scritte a Bonn tra il 1771 e il 1773. Degli anni ottanta non c'è nulla, a parte l'ouverture di Ademira, quindi non possiamo valutare in che modo avrebbe potuto comporre una sinfonia di stile più moderno.

That's a good one. Pity the Andantino is played too fast. Andantino ought to be slower than Andante, but here it's played like a Moderato.

I do not have access to the Benton catalogue right now, but according to the Forward of "Four symphonies ; one symphonie concertante / Ignaz Pleyel ; 10, 20, 25 edited by Raymond R. Smith", Benton 131 and apparently Benton 131A, the second movement's tempo is "Andantino allegretto".

@@DennisPajot esattamente, ma non è il solo caso in cui nei manoscritti e stampe di Pleyel compaiono indicazioni di tempo divergenti reciprocamente. Ad esempio anche il secondo movimento della Sinfonia in Re maggiore BEN P 124 viene indicato come "Arioso Andante" o come "Andante Amoroso".

Hunters of musical ideas - Mozart /Leopold - mentions Pleyel in a letter that he wrote to his father in March 24, 1784: "I must tell you that some quartets have just appeared, composed by a certain Pleyel, a pupil of J. Haydn - do try and get hold of them; you will find them worth the trouble. They are very well written and most pleasing to listen to".
