I really can't tell you how many times I have heard bowen's reaction series. I really never understood it properly. Like I just hear but it never sticks in my mind. But after I watched your video and saw how simple bowen's reaction it became clear to me now. I really appreciate you giving the time to such things and I hope you continue. Because with you everything is easy and simple and beautiful. Thank you for your time and effort.

Basalt generally has a Silica content of 45% to 52%. It isn't low but it is lower than Felsic.

Currently busy with my research project and this came in so clutch. I had forgotten about all about the bowen’s reaction series and I think I understand it even better now 🤦🏿♀️😂

Fascinating! That is so wild that it will happen the same every time; lava cooling to form minerals. I wonder if this means that closer to the equator we would see more of the higher temp and less of the quartz?

Yea it is really cool how nature makes many things in a very predictable way. To answer your question, you have the right idea in that temperature is the controlling factor, but no, the position relative to the equator wouldn't affect anything because we are not talking about lava cooling at Earth's surface, we are talking about things occurring underneath Earth's surface where heat is generated from within Earth not from solar radiation like on Earth's surface. And these subsurface processes occur at temperatures so high that the magnitude of temperture difference from the poles to the equator, for example, would not affect the minerals that are crystallizing from solution, because we are talking on the order of 1000s of degrees Celcius rather than

agreed. great job with breaking these concepts down into digestible discourse. in much less time than other channels spend on less content. gg
