This is great, Bill. I also have the original version… have been thinking about this one. Can you cook with lava rocks packed in bottom? I thought I saw a picture somewhere of this cooking unit raised up. Thanks for doing this!

Thanks for the vid - we just got a Revel about a month ago - moved from big toy hauler trailer to the Revel and the large propane fire pit we used to bring camping isn’t going to make the cut - but this Firecan - especially with the grilling option - looks perfect! A couple of thoughts/questions - have you considered using glass rocks/marbles or the like - it would seem to be pretty good at retaining heat without getting lava dust into the burners and easier to put in/dump out. Also, we have a tabletop Traeger that also is unlikely to make the cut for our downsized space…but I’m wondering about options to add some wood pellets to the mix - they make smoke tubes for grills, but they may take up too much space…also, wondering just how low you can go on the heat - would a smoked steak reverse sear method be possible?

I usually bring a 20lb propane tank for camping, gives us several hours using it as a fire as well as cooking. Ends up being easier than hauling firewood and dealing with the smoke.
