+Dallas dallas I'm glad it worked for you. Its not a permanent fix for some. If you have an LG G2 and the deadzone comes back.. try this Try going into the hidden menu for "LG G2" only Go to your phone dialer and enter the code for you model. 3845#*802# (for International model) 3845#*801# (for T-Mobile) 3845#*800# (for AT&T) 5689#*980# - (for Sprint ) Dial: ##228378 + send (Verizon) Then go to HW device test. Touch Test, then scroll down to Check Synaptics Touch Panel. run that test until each category passes. when you have pass on all 4, leave the phone in that menu for a few minutes. Just set it down and leave it for a bit. I have found that by doing this, you do not need the igniter, but if you exit the menu too quickly, you will get ghost touches. Just stay in the menu for a few minutes. This works on my G2 every time, i will make a video next time this happens. Hope this works for you. If your knock knock stops working, then run the Touch Firmware upgrade in the same HW test menu. That usually solves the knock knock.

This actually works! I was getting more and more dead zones and ghost touches on my Fairphone 2. I used a handheld gas igniter and didn't even take it apart - I just placed it against the screen and clicked a couple dozen times. All problems disappeared. Thank you!

Found this video through a blog, never would have thought that would work.. Huawei P20 Lite, i had "Ghost Touches" basically on the same spot you have your dead zone, and it just worked. The weirdest thing though, the "Ghost Touches" also weren't there when I had my phone plugged in... Wonder what that's about. Anyway, thanks a lot for that weird, but very helpful trick! Even if it shouldn't be a permanent solution, it's easy enough to just repeat it when it happens again (and hopefully it keeps working!) :)
@jpsinger168 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This trick worked on my LG G3. My dead zone was near the bottom of my screen so I couldn't even enter my PIN to access my phone. I bought a Bic Clic piezo lighter, pried off the metal top, and then the clicker slid right out. After just one click over the affected area it was working again. Part of the dead zone still exists, but at least the "OK" button for PIN entry is working again.
@cptnjarhead18 жыл бұрын
Glad it worked for you. This is not permanent but its cheap.
@jpsinger168 жыл бұрын
You're right, it's definitely not permanent. I've had to spark it multiple times a day. I take the igniter everywhere with me now! Time for a new phone.
@cptnjarhead18 жыл бұрын
sounds like an addiction problem.. lol. Yes, it can be intermittent. If you google lg g3 hidden menu, there are some diagnostic options than can sometimes fix the issue, or at least last longer. I'm not exactly sure what the G3 hidden menu looks like, but on the G2, you can run the Check Synaptics Touch Panel until all the test pass. when they do, just leave the phone sit for a few minutes. Then exit out of the menu and see if the dead zone is gone. This worked really well on my g2, and lasted much longer than the igniter.

Okay guys. I had this issue (with a heavily cracked screen which I assumed would be the cause/end of it). Went out bought a $2 plastic electric BBQ lighter, disassembled it. Secured the 2 wires from the device within 5mm of each other. Opened up notepad with drawing to locate all the areas that didn't work (it was fucking huge) and then went to town on it sparking it, the ark was very obvious between the two wires. Did probably 20-30 clicks across the whole thing (testing the screen occasionally between). THE DAMN THING WORKED PERFECTLY! Not sure what level of magic fuckery this is but I'll be damned. THANK YOU! This saved me $400... well $398 and only took all of 10 mins.
@lienbijs12052 жыл бұрын
Was the fix permanently? Did you do it with bbq lighters because of the higher voltage?
@AllTheGo0dNamesRGone2 жыл бұрын
@@lienbijs1205 Nope, was temporary fix. Eventually it got worse, to the point of not being usable. It was a pretty heavily damaged screen. But for the time being this definitely worked.

+Jil Amine Yes, it seems to be a temparary fix, but sometimes it can last weeks, sometime hours. You an also try this - Not sure of the menu options on G3, what you need to do is type the corresponding code into your phone dialer: AT&T: 3845#*850# Sprint: 5689#*990#. T-Mobile: 3845#*851# Verizon Wireless: ##228378 (+ send) International Models: 3845#*855# This will get you into the hidden menu. "On my G2", in the "HW Device Test" menu, then go to the "Touch Test" menu, then find and run "Check Synaptics Touch Panel" until it passes all 4 categories. When you get a pass on all test, do NOT leave the test. Just let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Exit out of the menu and see if your deadzone is gone.

I have a LG G2 (model D805).After perceiving this issue on my phone, I started to investigate on internet to know if it was a software or hardware problem. In my case, which was pretty similar to this, the stripe of unresponsive touch was at the middle-down part of the screen. After I tried the hidden menu, the restart, the igniter trick, I realize that if a put some pressure with a finger in the earphone hole and another in the top of the phone, vertically I mean, the touchscreen started working fine (sometimes awkwardly). With this idea in mind, I searched for a disassembly tutorial, removed the sim card, opened the back cover, removed the 5 screws of the lower black plastic part with a tiny screwdriver and I found a plug actually unplugged in the exact portion of the phone where I put the pressure. It probably disconnected itself when i removed that lower black plastic part. Well, I found the problem. With caution to not touch the connections directly with my fingers, I started trying to connect the plug. I found out that the plug needs to be with a constant amount of pressure to work properly. So I connect it and put a little piece of paper folded with 4 layers over the connector and screwed back the lower black plastic part. I turned on my phone and the touch was restablished. I'm so happy it worked. I needed buying nothing (ok, I bought the tiny screwdrivers kit). Please, give the phone a try before sending it to the garbage can. The connector I talked about is the one that the guy disconnects in 10:15 of this tutorial watch?v=iih4DRxwfEY (LG G2 Screen, Digitizer, Bezel, LCD replacement, Complete disassembly). I feel the need of assist the people who unluckily got this issue. I hope this comment actually helps someone.

The G2 is a great phone, even by todays standards. Camera, screen and speed is still able to run all task with minimal wait times. The main reason i got a G2 was the battery, 3000mAH makes the G2 hang with the top five phones of today when it comes to battery life. I just bought a Galaxy S7 edge because it has a 3600mAH battery. And i received the gearVR for free! Its a great phone.

Holy effin sh!t! I just fixed my wife's HTC 11 using this trick! Her top 15% of the screen was dead, and after two clicks with the igniter it just started working! O M G!

+kurnia adi laksono Awesome!... might not be permanent though If it comes back try this... Try going into the hidden menu for "LG G2" only Go to your phone dialer and enter the code for you model.

@suleman1118 жыл бұрын
+cptnjarhead1 thanks for your reply but in think there is a difference in every models hidden menu. according to you i haven't found such test "Synaptics Touch Panel" except touch draw test -manual ( which i have followed but didn't succeeded. it would be helpful if you could make a video on it please. thanks for your effort by the way.
