Can I just say that is one of the best walk-in intros I’ve seen in a long time. Perfectly timed. The bike’s nice too.

I'll have had my 2016 Thruxton R for seven years come June 2023. I had the old 2009 Thruxton for ten years with enough engine mods to get to the same 85 horsepower at the rear wheel on the dyno as the Thruxton R. I've drag raced and done land speed racing on both besides regular street racing and the new Thruxton R is at least a notch better especially on handling. The 1200 Thruxton R is more flexible engine and will tons of different gearing combinations.

Agree with all of that. Just back from a ride through the Peak District. It’s the sort of bike that people want to come up and look at, then chat about. That and the fact that you simply cannot walk away from it without looking back. Tail tidy and small indicators make it even lovelier 👍🏽👍🏽

Excellent review. I confirm all what was said in it. This bike is so cool, with big balls, fun to ride, it simply feels very special. Bike with character, the best bike I rode. For everyday use I recommend to stay with original handlebars, as lower clip-ons are really hard on wrists. Old fashion bubble fairing is more for posing than high speeds. It makes front of the bike nervous. I’ll take it off shortly.

I have a 2013 Thruxton 900. I love it to pieces and did all available upgrades for performance. It's not disappointing to me and I ride the hell out of it. Rode from Ct to Deals Gap North Carolina and back with no issues. I do love the power and handling aspects of the new Thruxtons, but I hate that fuel tank. Great review, just stung a bit for me because I really enjoy my older one. Cheers.

Bought one in June, after 6000km it still puts a huge grin on my face. My riding buddy just sold his xsr900, having riding both, the Thruxton is still favourite. The xsr is a real fun wheelie machine, perfect for stunts. Thruxton gets lots of looks and you get to talk to lots of interesting people who knows tons about motorcycles, not everyone enjoys that, but I do.

Fantastic review. Love the riding shots. The piece flows similar to a segment of Top Gear. I really enjoyed this video and my own test ride a few weeks ago put me over the edge in wanting one of the bikes. I have a Silver Thruxton R coming in a few weeks.

Very nice review. I'm looking forward for a review of the Moto Guzzi V-9 Roamer. To me, that is the reinvention of the 1976 Moto Guzzi 850T3 I have. Not a copy but a reinvention of that concept. And I look ahead for a real V-7 sport reincarnation. I hope Moto Guzzi does the same with the V-7 sport as Triumph did with the Thruxton.

Care to give your opinion of the differences between the two? Looking at both but just want one. Leaning towards Bonne for the comfort and riding position, although I agree the Thruxton reach and weight on wrists was better than expected.
@Lar3085 жыл бұрын
@@mattthompson900 I resisted my temptation to get one for a while as I thought it would be too similar to the T120 I already had or even the Ducati monster 821but then Brexit made me panic that I might never have one so I decided to go for it. The Thruxton is very different to the T120. In feel it just feels smaller, slimmer more agile than the T120. You sit kind of perched on top of it whereas you sit on the T120. First thing you notice are the brakes. They are just almost ludicrously powerful front and rear which gives you great confidence but you still have to be careful in the wet. Power too is in a different league. Even in road mode this bike just goes like the clappers. I still have not been brave enough to put mine in sport mode - waiting for the right time/conditions. Both bikes are heavy maintenance cleaning wise. Those aluminium and chrome surfaces require regular polishing to stay looking good. It makes you appreciate the T120 more though. Its a beautifully made lazy cruiser. Something to go for a relaxed cruise through the countryside on a nice sunny day. My experience is that the T120 attracts more attention than the Thruxton. Riding position on the Thruxton is not as severe as some reviews say. I am 60 and drove the bike 700 miles from Southern England to south West Ireland with no negative physical effects. Handling is also noticably more nimble than the T120 but you do notice the bumps on the road more in the Thruxton.
@mattthompson9005 жыл бұрын
Add another point for the black version of T120. Every time I see that aluminum I think pitting. I guess I'll have to test both and try to be honest with myself. :-)

I wish they reviewed the Thruxton 1200. It would be useful to know if the price difference is really worth it. I much prefer the standard 1200's green to the R's silver or red.

With the R you get the best brakes in the business. You also get an incredible suspension upgrade for less than either of these things would cost alone. Paint the tank green or buy one from Triumph. The R upgrade is a no-brainer.

Everybody loves the noice a parallel twin makes with a 270° crank. Makes me wonder why Ducati or someone else doesn't engineer this less costly and less complex engine configs to some crazy horsepower. 3.8 gallon tank on the TTR. That's dumb. But a lot of modern tank capacities are dumb.

Nice bike but pricey. BMW R Nine T.
@ilyketrainz7 жыл бұрын
Alex Morgan i’ve ripped a canyon with a thruxton R. I’d never do the same with an R nine T. The bmw’s shaft drive is good and reliable, but only if you’ll ever ride at 70% power, if I put all power down, the rear has no idea what to do or how to handle itself, the bmw is fun to ride, but if I was getting an R nine T, I’d prefer to just get an XSR900 at that point, which is what I chose over both, the thruxton r does have many classy and fancy bits for suspension and rider comfort, but for it’s price- rather ridiculous, and for the bmw, I’ve outran them on canyons many times over on my XSR, because you can’t get away with all power down unless you’re in a straight line. Bmw has shaft jacking, thruxton’s too expensive, xsr is the goldilocks in this situation for me.
