Thank you. I have just ordered a copy of this piece. Stravinsky is a composer about whom I know very little. This tango may well be within my capabilities, but I'll have to be patient.

I have seen this danced by experts, and this was the speed upon which they insisted; other players may tend to play it to show how fast they can play it. But it is a dance, not a race; 'the vertical expression of a horizontal desire', not a quick bang!

Agree this tempo is what a tango should be. It is a very sensuous dance, not a fox trot!

@yssayas Danke fürs Feedback! Tangos können schnell oder langsam sein, melancholischen, leidenschaftlichen, jedoch auf keinen Fall marschartigen Charakter haben. Leider haben viele Pianisten ausschließlich diese Vorstellung von einem Tango. Da empfehle ich die Aufnahmen renommierter argentinischer Orchester von C. di Sarli, F. Canaro, O. Puglese und A. Vargas. Ein Tango transportiert eine große innere Spannung und tiefe Energie, seine Motorik und Rhythmik sollte nicht im Vordergrund stehen.
