This is what depression feels like. It's odd, eerie, and you can't always find the reason behind it. Some part of you is in love with the euphoric feeling of loneliness and emptiness consuming you. All you can do is sit in stillness until the song is finally over and you can breathe again.
I can't doubt it anymore you're one of the most important artist of this era.

This album and that song in particular was my soundtrack during my breakup/divorce with my ex wife, with a small newborn kid. I felt a mix of feelings, like dying inside, and at the same time, and understanding of my emotional state and a way to embrace my melancholy. Since 2020 i felt panic of listening to it again and today i did it after a long time and of course, cried. I guess is part of the process, embracing and understanding this sadness so later on rebuild yourself again. Thanks for that touching trip into ourselves.

This feels like simultaneously peeking into the far future and the distant past at the same timr
@michaelbradshaw65674 жыл бұрын
*"The Far Future and The Distant Past"* *By Michael Bradshaw* You take a step forward and your feet sink into the mud. It's black as midnight, and the cold slime seeps through the holes in your boots into your socks. You begin to panic slightly, shifting your weight from one foot to the other in an attempt to free yourself, but you realize that you aren't sinking. You're just stuck. Releasing a slight, hot puff of relief, you begin to take note of your surroundings. What? Nothing? To your left and right, the surroundings are as white as polished marble. Reaching out your hand, you expect to feel the texture of icy stone on your fingertips, but it's no use, your hand sinks right into a dense fog! Bewildered, you strain your neck to look behind you. The goo makes it hard to twist your hips without losing your balance. You can't afford to fall over and get your hands stuck too. The fog parts a bit, and you set your eyes on a vague shape, shifting in the distance. Was it a monster? Was it following you? You hadn't noticed that shape before, and you begin to panic once more as you attempt to free your leg from the mire. You grasp your leg and give it a couple of hearty tugs. You begin to feel a slight shift in your foot underneath. You look up once more to regain your energy, this time in front of you, and the fog parts again. This time you can see more. Another shape is made clear to you. A black writhing mass of human limbs. Ice-cold horror shoots up your spine and the sweat on your brow feels like it's beginning to freeze. You observe each hand and foot individually moving, as if each limb had a mind of its own. The creature appeares to be made of the same mud that you are stuck in, however, it too looks as if it is caught in the murky snare. You could tell by the way that some of the hands clawed at the ground, flinging mud backwards onto the path before you. Many of the legs were also digging in their heels, completely submerging their feet into the earth. You suppress the urge to vomit. The concentrated mixture of shock and terror causes your vision to blur for a moment. Just then, you feel it. You felt something akin to finger tips brush across the back of your jacket. You shoot a glance over your shoulder but dare not look all the way. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot something. One mud-caked arm. Reaching towards you. You could see a thick layer of steam rising off of the charcoal black skin. Focussing your attention entirely on the creature behind you, you also begin to hear what can only be described as a pile of eels thrashing and squirming just out of your field of view. Assuming the worst, you thrust your torso forward, clasping your arms to your right leg once more. You begin to feel a heat on your back. Flexing all of your muscles, you give your leg one last mighty yank. **POP!** You free one leg from the mud! You plant your right foot forward, and before you can even think, a rush of adrenaline shoots down your left leg, freeing the other. Slowly, with all of your remaining strength, you begin trudging forward, away from your pursuer. Each step requiring a greater amount of willpower than the last. Minutes become hours as you focus all of your concentration on your footsteps. You don't even think of moving left or right. You can only move forward. With every footstep carved into the path by your own feet, you could hear the monster behind you, scraping and grasping at the place where your boots once were. You could begin to make out the distinct sound wet hands and feet, slapping against one another as they each attempted to drag and push the creature forward. Only looking at your feet, you continue trudging ahead, determined to escape the human meatball chasing you. But then you look up. You freeze in terror. There, in all of its horrifying glory, you see the mass from before. It was only about one or two feet away from your face before you realized how close it was! The blob was a tangled mess of limbs. Grasping. Scraping. Crawling. Not towards you, but something in front of it. You weren't fast enough to go around the monster, and you dare not ask politely for it to move over and allow you to pass. Just then, you feel a sharp pain on your shoulder. You didn't even have a moment to think before the creature behind you began pulling you in. You had completely forgotten about the monster chasing you. As the seconds passed, you could feel more and more hands gripping your body. The heat emanating off of them began burning holes into your clothing. A final rush of adrenaline shoots through your entire body, but soon you can no longer fend of the unruly hands. What little energy you had left is now completely exhausted. The hands continue gripping at you trying gain leverage over your body. The creature's arms and legs begin to wrap around your own causing your knees to buckle. You collapse face first into the mud with the creature on top of you. The heat is becoming too much to bare. The creature's mass begins to overwhelm you, pushing your body further down into the darkness below. The heat is becoming too much too bare. Panic overtakes you as you let out a gasp for help, but the mud begins to choke the breath out of you. You come to the stark realization that there is nothing left for you to do. Nothing left you can do. Savouring the last precious drops of oxygen in your lungs, you close your eyes. You stop struggling. You let go. You hope to wake up tommorow. You pray.

Apart from everything else, these heavy Electronic crunches that come and go are really something to think about. At first it's like the Drum beats kind of Release them, but they're always being sucked back in, then, in the last 40 seconds or so, they get much more intense, and it sounds like more and more is oozing out. Could be a pretty cool auditive description of whatever turmoil this song represents.

@acid_tongue_43152 жыл бұрын
This. This gave me chills. For me, A story instantly popped into my head at the very first few notes. It tells a story of something old, not quite what it used to be. The way some of the notes are played later than you would expect gives it a sluggish feel- As if it is out of practice, or too aged and withered to continue. It knows the notes, but misses its mark. It tells the story of a monster's facade failing, of its hideous form being revealed. I believe that at the beginning of the song, the uncanny valley effect has already been reached, and as the song progresses, it's human mask is lifted more and more to reveal the melancholy visage that lay beneath it. A monster that played the role as a human, but was unable to continue as it aged, and was met with horror
@acid_tongue_43152 жыл бұрын
Also synonymous and a great conveyer of depression- You continue the facade and denial to the point you can no longer. This 'break' and abrupt end to the song also can be interpreted as the moment when life meets its end, and the battle with one's inner turmoil and psyche is lost. Suicide vibes :0
